Question about Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Notebook

2 Answers

LCD flashing I had left my Thinkpad T61 plugged into 110 power over night. This morning when I turned it back on the monitor began flashing on and off. After a while it began to flash slower and I can see my home page. I am still able to open my documents and get on line. I am wondering if the lcd and or the inverter might be gone. I purchased this Thinkpad 6-18-08.

Hi,
If the screen is just flickering on and off then chances are that there is a loose connection on the inverter, this type of fault can happen over time and is mostly due to opening the lid and closing it.
If you want to tackle the problem yourself the inverter is located at the bottom of the screen and is hidden behind a piece of frosted plastic.
For most people this is a fairly easy job as it just involves removing the screen bezel (plastic screen surround)

If you need any more advice please post back

Acer monitor will not start, power button flashes

hi Samuel.
this is all i could find from the internet.
You can try a power reset to see if that helps. To do a power reset, unplug the power cable and press and hold the power key for 10 seconds. Then, release the power key and plug the monitor in and attempt to use it. If you are still unable to get a proper display, We would suggest contacting technical support to inquire about warranty repair options. Many of our monitors carry a 3 year warranty, so there is a chance you may still have warranty left.

Blue power button flashing with blank screen

This is most likely the power inverter board in the monitor - this is common in many monitors. If it started taking longer and longer to display an image, and the power light is blinking on-and-off, that's the problem. You can confirm that it's the monitor and not your computer or the cable by plugging in another monitor if you have one to try.

If it's under warranty, send it back, if not, there are inverter boards for many common models of LCD monitors that are replaceable. The board can run anywhere from $50 on up. Depending on how old it is, you may find it better to just replace it with a gently used one from ebay.

Charlotte

Can you remove the battery? If so pop it out and leave it out for a couple of minutes then pop it back in and see what happens.

Flashing green power light - Black screen

I had the same problem with an AOPEN 17' lcd that was left behind at a rental property... I plugged it into my dell dimmension 4400 in place of my old analog. It worked fine the fist night, and got up and when turned it on again it had the famed green blinking power light. I switched back to the analog, and just disappointed I plugged in the AOPEN to another power source, and power came on a steady red light. I plugged it back into the puta and it came on again. I have not turned the monitor off again for fear of the blinks, and has been working great for close to a week now. Hope it helps someone else out there. Richard

DCLCD 19" flatscreen won't turn on correctly

Same problem here, but after using the plugging/unplugging method it eventually stopped all together. So, I took it to a local monitor repair shop (AM Stereo, Seattle). The problem is a power supply issue where the capasitors go bad. They fixed the monitor by replacing the capacitors for $70. In there experience, all monitors, regardless of brand, tend to use the same cheap capacitors which fail. He replaced them with better quality capacitors which may make this monitor better than it ever was. I'm back in business with a great monitor!
