Question about Maytag Refrigerators
The compressor should have an ID tag on it with a type, serial number and date code indicating month and year of manufacture, but sometimes the code is alpha-numeric and meaningless without the code chart. The refrigerator should have a serial number on the same tag where you found the model number. jot that one down and contact Maytag's warranty department. They should be able to tell you how long the warranty was at the time of sale, if the warranty was transferrable as in your case, and if there is any coverage left.
Did the realtor that sold this to you also sell the property with one of those third-party home warranties? If so, contact them for more information and get this covered. That coverage is much better than Maytag's would be in a case like this.
