Polaris 380 stay on the wall

My polaris has good RPM's, lots of water pressure but when it hits the wall, it stays there until the back up valve engages. I have tried everything except replacing the pressure valve at the wall fitting. I noticed that alot of water is coming out around the release valve. Is that good or bad. It has not affected water presure to the cleaner. The jets are fine and little to no leaks around the swivels. Leslies has replaced all wheel bearings and the water management system. Belts are fine.

Any ideas?

SOURCE: My polaris 380 wheels won't turn. the belt is

If the wheels don't turn there may be sand in the notches on the wheels, the notches may be worn off, if their is sand or dirt in the paddel wheel jet that will keep the unit from turning and again no wheel movement. All of these problems they can check in your local pool store. Stores will generely check your unit out and fix what is needed for just the price of parts to fix it when you bring it into the store.
If you have no water flow to the unit this will also stop things from working so be sure to check your finger screen before you do anything.

Sport 3900 is doing wheelies will not stay level to clean

1. Check the wheel RPM. If not in the 30-36 RPM range, refer to the manual for adjusting the wheel RPM.

2. Adjust the thrust jet downward.

3. Verify the backup valve is cycling. Lift the valve out of the water and watch the jet. It should come on and go off.

4. Check for water inside the head float.

5. Empty the filter bag.

You can download the 3900 Manual from the Polaris site

It will show you how to check the wheel rpm and how to adjust the thrust jet and check and adjust the float.

My Polaris 380 just stop moving the pump was run and had good pressure turn one wheel they all turn freely also tail dose not move

Check several things if these pool cleaners stop moving. Check the filter screen in the in-line filter and clean, if necessary. Clean the skimmer basket, pump basket, and pool filter. Check all of the hoses,
connections, and swivels for leaks that could cause loss of water pressure. Make sure that your wheel RPM is between 28 and 32. Adjust your thrust if necessary to get RPM to that level.

My 4-year old polaris 380 frequently blows internal tubing off ports. Do I need to reduce water flow at the hose inlet?

Once you fix the immediate problem with zip ties, check the wheel RPM. It should be between the range of 28 to 32.To check the RPM Hold the cleaner completely under the water and count the wheel revolutions for one minute. If your RPM is to high, you can adjust it at the wall with pressure relief valve by unscrwing it. Im willing to bet your pressure is excessive. 380 unit floats to the top, doesn't move around pool

Check the following three things. One of these should correct the problem you are having with your automatic pool cleaner.

1. Confirm that the blue
restrictor disk is installed in
the UWF to decrease water
flow. Or, install the red
restrictor disk to decrease
water flow even more.

2. Check the wheel RPM. If
more than 32 RPM, unscrew
the pressure relief valve to
decrease water flow
to cleaner. Note: The
pressure relief valve should
only be adjusted when a
restrictor is installed.

3. Verify the back-up valve is
cycling. Hold the valve out of
the water and watch the jet.
It should come on and go off.

Pool polaris 280

If the cleaner is going too fast then it is likely that there is too much water flow at the drive turbine. Is there a pressure relief valve in the water supply line (at the edge of the pool)? If so then change the tension on the spring to allow less water to get to the cleaner's drive turbine.
The speed of the Polaris is probably the cause of the front wheel lifting as well, however if (after adjusting the water pressure) the front wheel still won't stay on the pool bottom, then perhaps adjust the little jet at the back of the casing. Mine points a little "down" towards the pool floor and this tends to raise the bac k wheel (or alternatively keeps the front wheel in contact with the pool bottom or wall).

By the way, if you want to see how the cleaner works, then search for eHow and lookm at the repair/overhaul of the Polaris 180............. the mechanism is similar.
Good luck.
