Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

We have model TBX25PASLRAA. we keep seeing water on the bottom of the fridge. I just checked and seems to be some ice like it's freezing. No signs of water leaking down from the freezer. Any suggestions?

Hi there: Most likely it is a problem with the defrost drain. Common in GE's. Luckilly not expensive to fix. The water is guided down to the bottom of the refrigerator to a pan above the coils to evaporate the water. If it gets clogged the water will ususally pool under the crispers. The defrost water just isn't going where it should. Some older GE's directed the water to a trough benind the crispers, then through a hole (like a shallow funnel) to the pan. Lood for this hole under the crispers and clean it out. With a pipe cleaner or a cup of warm water and bleach. If there is no hole there continue to the next pary. I looked at your model on line but the parts diagrams weren't clear as to where the tube goes(inside or outside of fridge,). This is why I'm giving you two parts. It is also possible that the defrost tube runs down the back of the refrigerator. In this case empty the freezer and look in the back for the same hole in the back of the shallow pan. This link might help you to locate it. Then use the warm clorox water or a pipe cleaner to clean out the tube. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=TBX25PASLRAA&productCategoryId=0166000&brandId=0432&modelName=TOP-MOUNT-REFRIGERATOR&diagramPageId=00005&componentDescription=COMPARTMENT .
I hope this helps, Jeff

We have the exact same problem. But ours is in a vacation home so we have to keep the water turned off all the time. It seems something in the ice line freezes when the fridge is empty. Then, no ice, no water. When we turn the water back on, after a few days of having food in the fridge, it seems to make everything melt and flood the tray then leak out onto the floor all day and night. The fridge temp goes down to 12 degrees when the fridge side is empty. It seems to stabilize when there are items inside. We put several gallons of water inside instead of leaving it empty and it helps with the temp but not with the leaking. We have had service come out several times and they just said, "don't leave it empty and turn off the water when you leave." What good is that? I don't have water or ice for the weekend when I go up to the house! OR I clean up floods the entire time!! Now it's out of warranty. Now that I see it happens to people in their main house, I would just say NEVER EVER EVER BUY FRIGIDAIRE AGAIN!

There isnt any water getting thru to the icemaker. i changed the watervalve and still no water i cannot locate the water filter even tho i removed the bottom grill, water is still getting to the water...

if you put a new water valve on the fridge then you either have a bad ice maker or the line is frozen where the water fills the ice maker,a bad water valve will make the line freeze, water keeps dripping through the valve and freezes the fill line behind the ice maker cup,you can remove the ice maker and check the fill line,if it's frozen get a hair dryer, shut down the fridge or unplug it and blow the hot air into the fill line until the ice melts, then get a piece of wire and after you reinstall the ice maker pop off the cover to the ice maker and jump it out with the wire, stick it in the t and h for 15 seconds and pull it out,if the ice maker is good it will start turning and when the arms get at like 11 oclock it should fill, also you can jump out the fill valve from the ice maker, stick it in v and L and if water fills the ice maker you know you have a bad ice maker if the fill line isn't frozen.hope this helps.next time you need help send the model number,on your machine look in the fridge section on the right hand wall up near the ceiling to find it,if it's older look down near the bottom hinge on the fridge door and you'll see a tag with the model number.good luck

Model 10658143801 not making ice

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects theb you need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge.

Fridge Condensation

Check the seal of the rubber gasket, if there are improper seal of the magnet, pour hot water along it to soften the rubber. (be careful when handling hot water). When the rubber is soften, try to stretch it a little by pulling it. close the door and the magnet will keep the seal in place.

Water does not flow through the dispenser

sounds like the sensors are playing up causing the bottom of the fridge to freeze, this will also cause the water reservior to freeze thus no water to the ice tray and water dispensor. do a full defrost then see if you gain back all the functions proving the sensor fault.

Whirlpool refrigerator Model Number ET1FTTXKQ03 Keeps freezing

common issue.....sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine
