Question about Pioneer AVIC-D2 DVD Nav/6.5" Screen/AM/FM/CD Player Car Video Player
A buddy gave me the unit and I installed it into my car last night 2002 Tahoe. I have installed a radio before and have hooked up the speakers wire correctly and grounded properly. The unit turns on plays Cd's but no sound, not even when you hit the source button. any ideas?

if they are all positive speaker wires then each speaker will get a positive and the other speaker wire goes to the ground of the ground wire

The rick to cure this problem is to disconnect the ground wire from the harnessand ground it to metal on the vehicle like ashtray or something. (radio ground to car metal. This will cure your problem

There is a built-in speaker for those tones inside the unit.
Seems as if your internal amplifier IS blown. It is probably cheaper - and will sound better to install a cheap 2 or 4 channel amplifier anyway.
The head units BOAST 50W per channel... but that is PEAK power. Most actually only produce 10-15W rms.
Replacing an output on the head unit will run you approximately $75 for the first... and $20 each additional. (up to 4)
You can get a great class a/b 2 or 4 channel amplifier for that price with built in crossovers and your sound will be 100x better!
