Question about Televison & Video

I have a Luxor 250gb Digital TV Recorder, was watching it today and it froze, so i tried to re-boot it by turning it off at mains for a few minutes, when i turned it back on it came up saying 'fail' i called Top Up TV tech support and they said it can't be fixed and to take it back to where i bought it! i only bought it in Jan this year, surely there is something that can be done. Any ideas?

I have recently had the same problem. Unit goes to FAIL on switch on. I've only had it for 18-20 months. I brought it from Tesco and they gave me £40 as a goodwill gesture, so I took the lid off and checked all cables, but it is still faulty. My guess is that the Harddrive (HDD) has failed, as I can't reformat the unit. I will take it to work on Monday and see if I can check out the HDD on a PC....

My luxor TV has froze on the options as I was trying to retune TV how can I fix the problem.

Do a reset to this TV & check. If it do not help you, contact any service technician or the authorized service center. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

How to restart after signal failure

Try this turn the TV off and hold the input button on the TV for A few minutes and it may come on. Then select the input you are using. If this doesn't work you probably have A bad main board.

Luxor tv will not power up and red light just keep flashing

I just pull out the mains plug for a few seconds then put it back in. The red light keeps flasing for a while (be patient) then stays solid red. When I then switch on again with the remote it is fine. I often have to do this.

Hi I have recently got a Hitachi HDR255 250gb Freeview + recorder. The problem i've got is that when I am in live Tv Mode and I want to rewind it will only rewind back about 5-10 seconds and then...

Jim, it may say it on the box, but as i found out today, this recorder does not allow the rewinding of live TV. In fact, it seems that few freeview+ boxes do, even if the box says so. I had to return a hdr255 to Argos today for this very reason.

Digital channels lost on DVD recorder

I'm delighted to report that all is now working.
I turned the recorder off at the mains electricity supply, left it off for several hours, switched it back on, searched for new digital channels, and it found them all :-)
I had tried this before, but only left it disconnected for a few minutes, and clearly that wasn't enough.
