Hp psc1410v all in one printer for vista does not scan had it on windows xp and bought a new computer has vista. printer disk would not download it and had to go on line for software and drivers. Finally got it to print but does not scan

The problem must be a simple one. It shuld be due to installation of wrong driver. You can please goto HP PSC 950 support page in HP website and download latest driver for both scanner and printer and try it out. I feel like your problem will be resolved.

On Vista the drivers are built in. It does not need setup from disk or download.

Uninstall any current software you have installed and reboot before downloading and installing the new software.

why??? If your computer is New it should have VISTA on it, or Windows XP, which is compatible with all printer scanner types. All you need to do is use the installation disk you got from the all- in -one-printer-scanner-copier and insert it into the disk drive and let it load up and follow instructions. if you do NOT have the disk--go to the website of the maker of the all-in-one and download the thing from there.

vista have scanning program already installed.
choose start->all program "Windows Fax and Scanning"
This feature works only with Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Business, and Windows Vista Enterprise.

You say it works with XP, so I assume it doesn't work with Vista? If that's the case you can download the newest Vista drivers HERE.

There are some compatiblity problems between Vista and your printer. Check this web page to download a driver that may provide limited printing capability for your printer...you'll need to use Windows Scanners and Cameras or Photo Gallery for scanning.

you can download the new software driver for windows vista at HP's website, but if HP doesnt develop the driver for vista yet for your printer model, well all you can do is that you downgrade your PC into windows XP for you to use that printer again.
