You should have a qualified technician do that for you. If it needs refrigerant it has a leak. that should be fixed before adding new refrigerant.

I feel that my Amana 14000BTU is not cooling the living room enough, it is on 83farenheight, what can I do to make it kick out cooler air

Make sure the filter is clean and that the air flow to the inside and outside is not blocked. It could have a freon leak. See if the coils behind the filter are iced up. That's a sign of low freon.

I need to add freon to my a/c unit but do not see valves can this be done by a repairman

There are no factory service valves on a wall unit, a service man can add tap valves and charge, but first the low charge diagnosis must be confirmed

Mod# PTH093A35AC: Unit has quit running. Blower appears to be frozen up. Prior to non-functioning it was making a loud clicking sound while running in heat mode, almost like coils were freezing up....

yes the blower can be replaced / not all that difficult have a screw gun ready though...several screws to gain access.... the unit normally comes as a sealed system (meaning no actually service ports to add freon but can be ported and a tap added to check and add refrigerant to system... these heat pump systems are great when working correctly ,but when it does drop below 20-25 degrees outside they will start to freeze as the defrost cycles in them are normally not very long and the unit cant keep up so in return they will start to freeze up, however if the blower motor started to go out and unit was running it will freeze up on you.... hope this info helps out feel free to repost with anymore questions you may have.....

My Amanda wall unit keeps freezing up. Cleaned filter and coils, please advise. Thanks, Gilbert

If a AC unit starts to freeze up, then that is a sure sign that it is low on freon. A wall unit is harder to add freon to since those units generally do not have Shrader valves to purge or add freon. It is sort of like your refridgerator in that the freon is sealed in the factory and to add , a technician has to cut the evaporator tube and add a valve, then add freon, pinch the tube off and seal it once the correct pressure is adjusted.

I would say that somehow your unit has developed a leak, and will get worse.

Unit is several years old but only used a few times. This summer we used it from July to present but it's cooling ability has declined steadily since early August. We use it durring the evening from 6pm...

Potentially could be low on refrigerant (freon) and no access taps are available to check freon pressures,so you would have to call a reputable hvac company to add taps to check freon pressures and if low add charge and look for a leak? Ideally would be to install permanent access valves after recovering freon charge and weigh in required factory nameplate amount.
Probably costly and maybe time for a new one vs. repair? Be sure your coil behind the air filter is clean? and be sure the coil outside is clean? You could take the unit outside and clean both coils with a garden hose but be careful not to over pressurize the coils because the fins bend easy, use an up and down motion not side to side.Let unit drain and reinstall and try

Roof air not cooling, what is the correct freon to add r22?

On the outside of the unit on the cover, there is a nameplate rating that should tell you how much and what type of freon is in it.

How do i charge a AMANA Ptac with R22 freon

Also, if you get caught working on ANY freon based refrigeration without a license, you could face a large fine. Freon isn't $3 per pound anymore, it's quite expensive and you don't want any of it wasted. Have a licensed technician do the work. He will know exactly how much refrigerant your system needs, and he can remove what's there and add to it.

The unit outside is getting ice around the line close to where you put refrigerant in. House not as cool as needed.

Freon is low. Sounds counter-intuitive, but the large return line should be cool( even have condensation on it) but never cold enough to freeze.Either use factory pressure settings or add just enough Freon until Ice melts. If unit has a high-side sight glass there should be no bubbles present. Do not overfill.
