Toshiba satellite is stuck safe mode it's running Windows XP.I tried restart f8 start normal a black screen with bunch stuf& starts in safe mode. What's wrong how can I get it out of safe mode?

First you should really consider upgrading from Windows XP because it is no longer supported and the chances of your computer becoming infected are extremely high.

Pressing the F8 command will only access Windows RE where you can access startup repair safe mode etc.

If the computer is only allowing you to go into safe mode that is a good sign that something is severely wrong with your OS.

While in safe mode you should try and access system restore, but this will only work if 1) you have turned on system restore and 2) your system has a restore point to access.

Have you added any new hardware or programs to the computer? If yes, then the new addition may be the cause of this issue. You can use device manager to rollback any changes or access programs and features to delete any program changes.

Other then that, if none of the above suggestions work I would strongly suggest booting from the disk media to access Windows RE too recovery the computer or just to re-image the computer.

Hope that helps.

Mode safe start windows

In this case it would be best to perform a system restore.
There are two ways to perform system restore:
Open start menu click run and then type cmd to open command prompt.
Type CD.. to make c:\ only.
Type CD windows then CD System32 and then restore.
After once you find yourself in c:\ windows\system32\restore>
Then type restrui.exe press enter.
Once the system restore window open then click next to select any available restore point.
This process shall take couple of minutes to perform restore and please make sure that once this process started it wont be reversible and neither you will lose any personal data.
Other way to perform system restore is to open safe mode by clicking F8 on start-up and check safe mode option then further a dialogue box will open to ask for system restore and then follow the above steps. Thanks

Restart the computer and tap F8 until you see the options to boot to safe mode. Use the arrow keys to highlight safe with networking and hit enter. Once you are inside safe mode, then do a system restore.

Vaio stuck on vaio screen

Try booting to safe mode. Restart your computer or turn it off and turn it back on. While it's starting, tap F8 until you see the options to boot to safe mode. If you see that screen, then use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode and press enter. If it goes in, then do a system restore by going to START > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Restore it to a known good date (the date when the issue was still not there).

If you cannot access safe mode, then you have a more serious problem. There are two possible reasons of that certain issue> 1. Operating System Failure which is easy to fix. 2. Hardware issue which needs the expertise of a technician. If you can't get into safe mode, then I suggest that you get the services of a technician.

I hope this helps!

My laptop (acer appire 5552 home prem 64) got the black screen virus is ther anything i can do to fix this on my own

Hi alanah 00..
Yes there are a few things you can do to fix the problem yourself.
1...Do a restore to an earlier time, when the computer was working properly...
You will turn on the computer and keep tapping F8 and it will take you into the SAFE MODE.
After you are in the SAFE MODE you will go to "Start">All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Restore. Click on Restore and restore your computer to operate at a time before you got the virus.
2...Turn on the computer, while tapping F8, this will take you into the SAFE MODE.
When you in the SAFE MODE then you can run some antivirus to rid yourself of the virus on your computer.
3...While you are in the SAFE MODE ...Go to and download and do a COMPLETE scan of your computer, this will take several hours depending on how big your hard drive is. They also offer a free virus removal service from Microsoft after the scan and cleaning if the cleaning was not sucessfull thru a chat window and they can take over your computer (if you ok it) and remove the virus for you....EXCELLENT SERVICE
4...Also while you are in the SAFE MODE and after the Microsoft scan...
Go to: download this free virus/trojan/removal tool and install and run it also.
After you do this then you should have the virus removed from your computer.
Please take time to rate me

I was doing an automatic update and had to restart my computer... since then it has been stuck on the wecome screen saying "please wait" for 2 days now I have taken out the battery and restarted it several...

when you restart it , just press f8 so you will be taken to a screen where the first option will be safe mode, select it and it will hopefully log you in. Once you are logged in safe mode, anything you wanna do, and then shut down the computer. Start it again and this time let it boot normally. Hope this way will work

My pc wont even load up. it just gets stuck on the first HP screen with press f9 or f10. it just freezes up, and i dont know what to do. ive tried pressing both of the keys but none work.

try to start it in safe mode, then you can run system restore back to see if this fixes it. when computer loads up and shows the first screen, then push f-8 before it fully loads, this will take you to the safe mode screen, choose safe mode, then when loaded run system restore back to where the problem was ok. if this does not work then I would restore windows from the backup cd. if using safe mode when rebooting, it will change back to normal.

Laptop is stuck in safe mode Acer

I faced the same problem with my laptop. I tried several methods. But none of them worked. But finally when I tied the following procedure it worked.

The following instructions work on a computer running Windows XPmag-glass_10x10.gif only, this is assuming that your laptop has XP installed on it. Use this only if your computer wont come out of safe mode by restarting it.

Go to Start > Run and type "msconfig" in the dialog box that comes up. Press Enter or OK and the System Configuration Utility box should come up. Click on the "BOOT.INI" tab. Down in the bottom left corner of the window under where it says Boot Options there will be several checkboxes. Make sure that the /SAFEBOOT box DOES NOT have a check in the box. When it is unchecked restart your computer and you should be out of safe mode.
