Question about Heating & Cooling

3 Answers

19 seer infiniti system, system will run for 2 mins. and then cut off and it will not show a code to the outside unit board or the thermostat. Replaced the thermostat and the outside low voltage wiring, then went to test mode on thermostat. Turned high cooling for 15 mins, it will run for 10 mins and then cuts off. It still does not show a code. If you go to the thermostat and turn it off, and reset it to cooling it will run for 2 mins and will cut off.

This cut off is very likely being caused by a defective compressor module thermo limiter (prevents overheating the compressor), replace it.

No heat but fan keeps running

If the air conditioner compressor runs all the time the main control board might be defective. The main control board provides the voltage to the fan motor and compressor. These boards are often misdiagnosed. Check all other components to be certain this is the cause of the problem.

We have a Haier 13 seer central a/c unit #HC18-60d1var which will not turn on when running a/c. What can the problem be? The unit is only about 2 years old. Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm assuming that you mean the outside unit won't come on? Typically a thermostat wire is damaged outside stopping the 24 volts needed to energize the contactor coil. Often times the breaker is tripped to the outside unit as well. Take the panel off the outside unit and push the plunger in on the contactor with a screwdriver. If it comes on then it is definitely a 24v problem.

I have a 16 SEER Goodman air conditioner and during the morning hours, temperature ranging 75 degrees outside, the compressor comes on but not the outside fan. It only runs for a minute and a half then...

The fan is shutting off in order to maintain head pressure when the outdoor temperature is low. This is common on 16 seer and above systems. It helps your system be more efficient.

Goodman package- no heat below 30 degrees outside

I believe the unit you are describing is a heat pump. Heat pump are great when the temperature isn't below 30 With low ambient temps. outside it is much more efficient and comfortable to run aux. electric heat from the heat pump.

Inside unit running outside want come on temp on

check circuit breaker in house panel labeled a/c or outdoor unit
check box near outdoor unit for a breaker or fuses
some thermostats have a 5 min delay when switched to a/c
check for external reset buttons at outdoor unit some are red depending on brand
check that all wires are intact at outdoor unit------none cut or hanging and not hooked to anything?

I have a Carrier infinity model 38tdb037-3. The outside unit will not come on. the control board on the outside unit shows an amber led on status 2.it is a steady constant flash.the error is an apparent...

Have you eliminated the possibility of a high or low pressure error. Sounds to me like it's off on safety. Should have troubleshooting the flash right on the panel. Test your pressure switches for continuity.
