AW1000W 'door' light

I've just moved into a new flat and have an AW1000W machine here. When I choose any programme the following lights come on: 'wash', 'rinses' and 'spin', and 'start/pause' starts to flash. Once I press 'start', the 'door' light comes on and the cycle jumps to 'end'. This happens every time I choose a programme, on all programmes, and the door is always shut properly. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
