Boot up (turn on) your PC with the adapter removed. After you get the desktop, then connect the adapter to a USB port. You should receive a "found" message and then let the adapter find the device driver (software it needs). If no "found" message, connect the adapter to a different USB port. If still no "found" message, the adapter may be faulty.

I'd also suggest to select Start- Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager and look to see if there are any "?" or other symbols. That would indicate a hardware conflict and you should contact us again for further help. Again, if no symbols, the adapter is probably faulty. Good luck.

Stuck At Detecting Adapter

Disconnect it, remove any software that was installed and restart the computer. Do not connect the device until you finish installing the device's software or the software installation prompts you to connect the device.
If that doesn't work, here's Microsoft's solution:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly
If that doesn't work, go to Netgear's website for support and/or post the problems in the forums.

When you search make sure it shows up "Searching for wireless networks in range" for a while.

If it doesnt and instantly says "no wireless found" is because you have another program using the wireless connections

To solve this simply click

  1. Start
  2. Control Panel
  3. Administrative Tools
  4. Services
  5. Scroll down to "Wireless configuration" or "Wireless zero configuration"
  6. Right-click and select "Start"
then you can search again

Hope it helps
