Make sure your CPU is being properly cooled. and has thermal grease between the cooling fan's heatsink and the CPU. Also check any other onboard fans to make sure they are dust free / running properly. if the fan is not running quietly and smoothly, you will need to replace it.

Once replaced, if you still get thermal shut down, you may need to check with your manufacturer to determine if there is a faulty thermal probe on the board

I have a prolectrix wall mounted bowed fireplace model BG-D4. The fan quit working and now it overheats and shuts down. Is there a fuse or a reset button?

I don't know this specific product but if it is designed to run with the fan, it will overheat if the fan stops and shut down. Often, the shut down is by a thermal cutout, so just wait for it to cool dow.. You may have to remove power.

Laptop Overheats

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a can of compressed air to do this.

Hi joshua1156,

Your laptop fan is not working. That's why the laptop overheats and shuts down. Replacing the fan will solve your problem.

Toshiba A65-S1062 - This laptop overheats and shuts down.

I bet that you had your laptop on all the time.
Your heat sink is saturated with dust and grit.
you may have to open up the unit and use a can of dust remover to clean the fins on the heat sink out. it is causing your CPU to shut down bucause it is becoming overheated.
Happy Fixing =)

Built in oven keeps shutting down for no known reason

there is an overheat stat and this is probably coming into operation.
check casing fan is operating - not the fan inside the oven - and check there is plenty of ventilation for the appliance
