Zune 30GB When I started my Zune 30GB it hanging up and after that cannot on the power I connect to my pc untill now no screen appears on my zune

Try Resetting you Zune. To do this, Hold down the Back button and up on the Touchpad for about 15-20 seconds. If this does not work, I would contact Microsoft.

Many Zune users will tell you of the dreaded error 5.

When the error occurs it means that the Zune has encountered a problem that it cannot recover from and informs users to contact customer support.

Usually to fix this error, the Zune must be sent to Microsoft. If the Zune is under warranty and the owner is within the US, this is little more than an inconvenience.


If the owner is outside of the US this is not and option and if the warranty has expired, the fix can come at a high price.

However, before sending a Zune off to Microsoft for fixing, there are a number of things to try.

The first thing to try would be to restart the Zune.


The steps to restart the device vary based on Zune model. For the Zune HD player, the user should press and hold the on/off button for roughly ten seconds and the player will reset.

For the non-touchscreen models of Zune, the user should unlock the hold switch.


Then, press and hold the back button and the top button of the Zune pad. The device should restart and the user can release the buttons.


If this does not fix the error, then the user should try reinstalling the software on their Zune device.

To reinstall the software on a Zune HD, the user should press and hold the on/off button for about ten seconds.


When the device restarts, the user should press and hold the "Media" button until the message "Connect Zune To Your PC" displays on the screen.

The user should make sure they have the most up to date Zune software installed on their computer and connect the Zune.


Update the Zune and it should be ready for use again. If the user continues to experience problems, then the Zune HD software may have to be completely deleted and reinstalled. Doing this will completely delete everything on the Zune, so anything that has not been backed up will be lost, including purchased items.


To do this, the user should hold down the on/off button again until the Zune HD restarts.

Upon restarting, the user should immediately press both the "Media" and the "Home" buttons until "Connect Zune To Your PC" displays.


The user should then connect their Zune HD to a computer with the most up to date Zune software and update the Zune.

For the non-touchscreen Zune models, the following step will erase user data (including purchased items), so a backup is recommended.


First, the user should unlock the hold button.

Then the back button and the top button should both be pressed and held down.


The next step varies by model. For owners with a Zune 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 80GB, and 120GB, the Back button, Zune pad, and Play/Pause button should all be pressed and held down.

The user should continue to hold them until they get a "Please wait" message.


For owners of the Zune 30GB, the Back button, the left side of the Zune pad, and the center of the Zune pad should all be held down until "Please wait" displays.

After data is cleared, the message "Connect Zune To Your PC" will appear.


The user should connect the Zune to a computer with the most recent version of the Zune software installed on it.

After the software is installed, the Zune should be ready for use.

If these measures fail to fix error 5, then the Zune owner will likely have to send the device to Microsoft as the problem is deeper than a software issue.

Sadly, it is not always clear what causes error 5 to occur. In these cases, there are few other options than to leave it to the experts.

I want to start over with my Zune Model 1089. I want to clear everything off of it and start over. Please help....


1. Slide the "hold" switch so that it is in the unlocked position. 2. Press the "Back" button and the top of the Zune pad at the same time and hold until the device resets and begins to power up. Release the buttons when the Zune starts to power on. 3. Immediately press and hold the "Back" button and both the left side and the center of the Zune pad and continue to hold until the Zune restarts. The phrase "Please Wait" will appear on the LCD screen. Release the buttons.
4.Let the Zune continue resetting. It will clear the contents and eventually display "Connect Zune to your PC" when it is ready.
5. Connect the Zune to your PC via the sync cable. Follow the prompts given by the Zune software to completely restore the Zune device to the factory settings. If you have downloaded newer Zune firmware, you have the option to restore the Zune firmware with the latest version.

How to restore your Zune device software:------------
When you restore your Zune device software, the startup partition and the data partition are removed and rebuilt. In addition to removing the Zune device software, this process also erases all audio, videos, podcasts, and pictures that are stored on the Zune device.
Warning To restore the Zune device software, you must have a Windows-based computer that has an Internet connection. That computer must have the Zune software installed. And you must be able to connect the Zune device to a USB port on that computer by using a Zune Sync Cable. Do not perform the following steps if you do not have any one or more of these things immediately available.

After you start to restore the Zune device software, you cannot again use the device until you complete all the steps. You will not receive any confirmation or warning on the Zune device after you start the following procedure.

To restore the Zune device software, follow these steps:
1. Set the Hold Switch to unlocked.
2. Press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press and hold the top of the Zune Pad. When the Zune device begins to power up, release the buttons.
3. Immediately after you release the buttons in step 2, press and hold the following special button combination, depending on your Zune model:• If you have the 4GB Zune, the 8GB Zune, or the 80GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune Pad and the Play/Pause button. Error code c00d124d appears on my zune while sync


You may have to attempt a Hard Reset if this issue is persistant.

This will erase everything on your device, as a warning please be certian you have backup copies or this is a last resort.

30gb zune only has black screen


Try these ideas first, except calling for service since it's out of the warranty: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931912. If this doesn't work then, you'll have to erase all the content on your Zune through the buttons on it and use the Zune software to restore the firmware and getting it to boot again. If this doesn't work, then the hard drive may be bad in the Zune and will need to be replaced. If the hard drive is bad, you'll usually hear a lot of repetitive clicking. I hope this helps.

My zune stopped working and now will not turn on


I figured out the solution by just getting upset.
Hold the Back arrow (<-) and Up on the touch pad and it will restart the Zune. This works for the 8gig and 80gig Zune.

My zune wont turn on


I turned on my Zune and the screen froze so I turned it off but it would not turn back on.

I went online and read somewhere that if the screen freezes then you should press up and back and wait for the zune insignia to come on. Well my zune was not just frozen it would not go on but I tried the up and back thing and it worked. it took about 9-13 seconds but it worked so give it a chance and if that doesn't work try charging it overnight. Hope that helps :D
