Missing Characters in Keyboard Input

I have a very annoying problem that no-one seems able to solve.
When typing in (for example) GMAIL, characters are randomly dropped.
When using MS Word the problem still appears but not as badly.
Virus checker does not find anything.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Rob Sydney, Australia

It may be that you are catching the touchpad when you are typing. Try temporarily covering it up with a piece of card and see if the problem goes away.

My password is martinking is not working and y

First of all, you should never give out your password.
There can be several reasons why your Gmail account password is not working. You can try the following troubleshooting steps one-by-one to resolve the issue:
1.Type your password slowly to make sure that you are not missing out typing one or more characters included in your password.
2.If you are still not able to login, you can try typing your password on a notepad or word document to make sure that all your keystrokes are reflected correctly. This will also help you know if your password is getting typed incorrectly due to malfunctioning of your keyboard keys. If you find any issues with your keyboard, try using another keyboard (if possible) or try logging in to your Gmail account through another device.
3.If you are still not able to login, you can recover/ reset your Gmail password by using the following Google link:
https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery/

Hope this will resolve your issue.

How can I type Japanese o keybord?

Hai ! This is possible : )

Type in Chinese, Japanese, and other character-based languages

To type text on your computer in character-based languages, such as Chinese and Japanese, follow these steps:

[Source: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Type-in-Chinese-Japanese-and-other-character-based-languages]

  1. Add the language as an input language. If you want to use an input method editor (IME), make sure you select it when you add the input language. For more information, see Add an input language.
    Add an input language

You can edit documents in multiple languages by changing the language (the input language) in which you type. Input languages are included with Windows, but you need to add them to your list of languages before you can use them.

    1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

    2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.

    3. Under Installed services, click Add.

    4. Double-click the language you want to add, double-click the text services you want to add, select the text services options you want to add, and then click OK.

  1. Change your input language to the language you installed. For more information, see Change your input language.

Change your input language

The input language is a setting in Windows that controls the language you use to type information on your computer. Before you can change an input language, you need to add that language to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.
To change the input language

Click the Input language button on the Language bar, and then click the input language you want to use.

If you don't see the Language bar, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars, and then click Language bar.

  1. Change your keyboard layout to the desired layout. For more information, see Change your keyboard layout.

Change your keyboard layout

You can customize your keyboard for a specific language or format by changing the keyboard layout. The layout controls which characters appear on the screen when you press the keys on your keyboard. Some input languages have several keyboard layouts; others have only one. For example, you can change your keyboard layout from the English QWERTY format to the English Dvorak format. After you change the layout, the characters on your screen might not correspond to the characters on your keyboard keys.

Before you can change the keyboard layout, you must add the input language and keyboard layout that you want to use to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.

TIP:
After you are done you can switch between Japanese and English very easily by manually pressing the on screen buttons or using keyboard commands like SHIFT+ALT to switch between Japanese (???) and the Alphabet.

How do I shift from these stupid green characters to the white standard characters on my Acer Aspire One keyboard?

This is not a solution, but it seem ACER introduced these special characters which can be switched by a combination of keystrokes they have not documented. These keystrokes can be pressed by accident and since they are not documented the only way to return to the normal keyboard is rebooting.
ACER seems not to care as I have sent at least 5 emails requesting a solution as well a solution to another annoying problem but I never received a response.
For sure I will never buy (I have 3 Acer Laptops) another ACER machine.

Keyboard specially in laptops are connected to the main board via very tin flex wire underneath the keys, sometimes because of the frequent used and hard on pressing the keys, this flex can be easily damaged

I suggest you bring it to the service center and have it check

Toshiba satellite pro keyboard typing weird characters

I am not sure what make your computer is exactly so, I would recommend google.

It sounds like it could simply be a driver error. But I am not really sure. I would try updating the drivers for the keyboard and see if that helps. Maybe even reinstall them to assure that none of them have been corrupted or somehow deleted.

My email is mattweed9@gmail.com. If this does not work email me with the your problem in the subject title, and we will see what we can do.

I would reset the bios by using the jumper in the cabinet. Then make sure you have the correct type of keyboard selected and if all of that does not solve the issue, replace the keyboard.

The keyboard characters does not correspond to what appears on sc

Does it type " by any chance when you press the @ key? if so this is usually because keyboard input is set to the wrong language in the regional & language settings are wrong in the control panel. try pressing the left alt key & shift at same time first this is a quick key to change between input languages.
