Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition
I hav been running Windows Vista Ultimate right from August 2007, I have found it very borinfg to use and it is ver slow whenever I try to install any application software. Again I think windows vista looks like Linux base system because we need to confirm each and every time we do with any thing. It really waste my time. Actually windows vista is big and it makes my computer very slow compare to XP and 2003. According to my problem can you tell me how to make it work faster.

The themes will make a big difference,
another thing that is often overlooked it all the startup programs and services that are unnecessary (do we relay need updaters running for Java, Google etc etc, and have Adobe and MS Office quickstart items running? Uninstall software you do not usel, and disable startup of items that do not need to run all the time.
If you are unsure of what needs to run, stay with the Startup tab in MSConfig and disable things you know you will not need.
See this article on how to use MSCONFIG to disable startup items, or use the Startup manager in RevoUninstaller Startup Manager (Under Tools) to safely disable startup items http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Microsoft is already working on Windows 7. Why? Because Vista is such a turkey. Can you say Yugo! I've heard many people have gone back to XP because Vista doesn't run well on older computers. It demands too many system resources.

Best bet is to get more RAM. RAM is cheap to buy. But for better performance, i recommend you using the Windows Classic theme. I'm using vista right now with 512MB Ram and i got a huge performace boost switching to classic theme.

Its slow because it took over 50 million lines of code. try adding more RAM, faster CPU, a hard drive with more RPM [7200 is good, but there are faster], setting up a RAID0 hard drive array... like THASSAL said, try a less taxing windows theme. try disabling programs from starting up when you turn on your computer..

You can try changing your Windows Theme to a more plain less animations ect..
To do this click on the desktop right-click now click on Personalise and now there are many things you can adjust to improve your computers performance like screen saver settings, wallpaper settings, theme settings and many more.
If your using the theme Vista Aero (with glass effect) then i would recommend you to change the theme to the Vista Basic theme.
The glass effect uses lots of your computers RAM and will slow it down dramatically.
Here is a guide so you can change your theme with example pictures so it's much easyier to understand what to do - http://grok.lsu.edu/Article.aspx?articleId=638
Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful.
