I have an old sports art 3200 that I really don't want to part with because it has served me so well for so long. The issue is that it will no longer elevate. It tries to the motor still sounds the same as before but I only get ERROR on the display screen and the treadmill crashes and stops. I have to flip the power switch on and off for it to start again. The running track will still move fine even at 11mph. Any ideas? Thanks Lance. [email protected]
This could be a bad elevation motor, but could also just be the nylon gears inside the lift motor. I am attaching two links. One is to the service manual and the other is to the parts for this model. This should help you get to the bottom of this and get it fixed. http://www.sportsmith.net/images/product_support/sportsart/Repair%20Manuals/General%20Treadmill%20Svc%20Manual.pdf

Hi,
Your treadmill runs on a permanent magnet DC motor. If it is running backwards someone has swapped the pos and neg leads where it connects to the motor control board MC-60. OR
the brushes were removed from the motor, and installed into the WRONG locations. there is a plus sign and a neg sign on the end cap of the motor, make sure the RED wire is going to the pos sign,.and so forth.
to get to the motor you'll need to remove the 4 phillips head screws FROM the bottom of the motor enclosure: lay the unit on it's side to get to them. 2 in the front,.and 1 on each side. If it doesn't come off easy,.you've missed a screw.
Lay the unit back down, and start digging in.
Lastly, you can verify the MC-60 is outputting the wrong polarity voltage with a voltmeter. Disconnec the motor and connect your voltmeter on a 20 volt DC range ( at least). plug your unit in, and turn it on at 3 mph. you should see positive voltage applied to the read lead.
It's very unlikely that the control board would swap the polarity, so, my bet is,...the wires are switched.
good luck.

By the sound of it I am assuming the you have power to the upper display. This happens quite often when people even moving their treadmill from one room to another. My suggestion is first make sure that the safety key is engaged on the upper electronics if it is then, unplug unit remove motor shroud then locate lower board and pull and reconnect each connectors then fire it up and observe if the LED lights are on one will say PWM. This is the command for the motor to engage, the light will start flickering this mean the upper console has sent the proper signal for the motor to move. If no movement then unplug unit then remove the two connectors that go to the motor attach a 18v dc (fully charged ) drill battery and if you the motor move then look at the lower board by sheer bad luck went bad . Now if you see no flickering on the lower board remove upper console and check the the connections their. hope this give you a directions to follow.

hi,
There are two possibilities for this problem
1. Check the speed sensor on near the motor pulley. Remove the sensor and clean it and re-fix it. then make a try. if problem remains then
2. The motor speed controller is faulty. There is an IGBT for controlling the motor speed. If it get shorted the motor will run it its high speed.
Be sure before opening the treadmill remove the power.
ok
