Yes, the backlight is a separate part. It can be removed from the LCD and replaced.

I would normally say amazon i buy a lot of replacment screens from amazon but every once in awhile they dont have the one i need. in your case they dont have an LCD screen for the DSC-T10 but there is one on ebay for 60$ and it comes with replacment directions witch is always a plus CYBERSHOT DSC-T10 on ebay click here

and follow the instructions. Sony will email you a UPS shipping label. Ship the camera back to them at their expense. They will fix it and ship it back to you for free.

Until September 30, 2008, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned symptom where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue.

Hi there, I now have two Cybershot DSC-T10 with broken LCD's. The best remedy that I have found is buy a parts camera with a good LCD on EBAY. You can get the whole camera for way cheaper than you can buy a new LCD.

You can get this directly from Sony or check tritronicsinc.com as they are a distributor for Sony parts. Please be aware that the replacement screen will not be cheap.
