If you restart any computer without mouse or keyboard connected and then if you connect after loading the operating system, it will never recognize these hardwares as you connect. You have to connect them first and restart again to make it recognized by windows operating system. I hope this will give you some ideas what to do with this problem.

My mouse stopped working. I disconnected, reconnected and rebooted. What else can I try?

Try to reinstall the Mouse Drivers

Remove it from the sections of Mice and HID sections in
Device Manager. Then reboot. XP will automatically re-detect and re-install it.
these when it find the USB mouse connected to the PC.

Internal mouse will not move and lights are red/orange

this might be a problem with the mouse lock..
check ur mouse lock button just above the mouse pad.
if its locked, unlock it & try again.

if its not locked, then go to device manager via right clicking My Computer, properties
select mouse device & expand the tab
uninstall the mouse, dont worry it can be done without mouse.
now press the windows key from keyboard, and restart ur system via pressing Start key, +u, +r for windows Xp & for Windows Vista, press ALT+F4 then select restart.

After ur machine boots up, it will automatically detect the mouse & reinstall the required drivers. its done

if u like my post, pls rate me.. i really need some good ratings..
Thanks

I need the usb controller driver for the dell dimension 2350 know where i can find it? thanks

The USB controller driver for Windows XP is a Native XP driver. If you have a problem with it, boot to the safe mode, go to device manager, remove the controller from list, make sure all USB devices are disconnected (Keyboard and Mouse excepted) reboot and let the controller re-detect.

If that doesn't work, then try a repair install of XP

Hi, the CS62U is connected with an HP8750 (win2000) and a MSI WIND NETTOP 120 (win XP home). It works perfectly with the HP desktop but the mouse is not responding anymore.

Try this:
1. Disconnect your HP computer, so that only the MSI Wind is connected.
2. On the keyboard, hit [Numlock]+[-] then press [A] (this will auto-search for the computer that's connected, and connect both keyboard and mouse to that port).

Give XP a minute to detect new hardware. If XP does not detect the mouse, try plugging the mouse into a port directly on your netbook. If XP still does not detect the mouse, it's XP that's not detecting your mouse properly, not the kvm switch. :) If it does detect it, you should be able to then plug it back into your kvm switch and it should work at that point.
Note: if you get stuck with lights flashing on your keyboard, just hit [Esc] on the keyboard. That will reset the KVM switch.
Hope this helps!

Is there a way of disconnecting my ''tracking ball'' - not sure what it's called? It broke off and now my pointer keeps floating all over the screen. If I connect a mouse it seems to override it but would...

It can be disconnected, but if you have never taken apart a laptop I would not try it. A better way to disable it would be in the device manager. I'm going to assume you have Windows XP, if you don't, just let me know and I will give you the right instructions for whatever OS you have. Click on Start, then right click the "My Computer" icon. Next click "Properties". Select the "Hardware" tab and click "Device Manager". This will open the device manager window. Find the selection that says "mice and other pointing devices" and click the + sign next to it. This will show you what Windows sees you are using for a mouse. If you are also using a USB mouse at this time, it will be shown here. Right click on the mouse that is labeled as a touch pad and then click "Properties". Next click the "Advanced Settings" tab. Click the drop down box for "Wheel Detection" and select "Detection Disabled". This should cure the problem you are having. If not, you will need to disable the entire touch pad or find a way to disconnect the wires from the effective spot. Also, with this problem, you may have a hard time going through the procedure I just mentioned, but it is definitely much easier than taking the laptop apart, trust me. Let me know if you have any questions.
