Question about Dell U0636 Mouse

1 Answer

Dell Studio 15 laptop mouse does not work at start up.

The mouse (Dell Premium Optical Mouse) does not work when the Laptop is started. MAybe after 5 -10 minutes it miraculously responds.

The red light is not on immediately.

Seems like a slow start up issue.

But then if I wanted to use the internal mouse I'd have to go into Control panel again.

This sounds like a work around rather than a permanent fix, don't you think.

It sounds to me like the mouse buillt into your laptop is conflicting with the Dell external mouse. If you go into control panel and click on mouse, you can disable your built-in mouse. Restart your computer with the USB mouse plugged in and see if that does the trick. I would be surprised if it does not. On the off chance it doesn't work, you will have to enable your built-in mouse and we can check to see if there are any additional conflicts happening through your hardware profiles in the system area of control panel.

    ??

No, I don't. There is no permanent fix if your mice are conflicting. Work around?? There's no way to fix a conflict except to remove the conflict...

How do I know? I started out with Windows 3.1 (well, dos actually) and have tutored and managed a 300 head office through every single version of Windows. Now, if a tech tells you different (barring the fact that you may just have a faulty mouse) I would have to see the result. I feel anything one does aside from removing the conflict would be the "workaround" But hey, this is all free advice anyway, so I guess your best relu of thumb is listen to what makes you feel better about yourself.

Find your way into control panel and check mouse settings I believe the middle mouse button is adjusted there. The details are different with each brand of mouse but this should point you in the right direction.

The mouse touchpad on my Studio 1569 is not very sensitive. I can hardly get the mouse to move and I can't find where to adjust. The OS is windows 7.

Windows 7 loves to hide these things. unfortunately, this is one that Microsoft forgot to make hard to find..
Start -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> /Pointer Options\ and change the level as needed...
If the mouse won't reach it fast enough, use [Tab] to jump to the scroller, then use the left and right arrows to change it..
Depending on how dirty the corners of the touchpad are, they may need to be cleaned. DO NOT SPRAY IT WITH CLEANER. Find a cloth, apply cleaning solution to cloth lightly, then wipe area, and dry. anything stuck in the corners will degrade the mouse's response.
If you have ever opened the case, be sure to push the wire back in carefully and as far as it was designed to go, otherwise bad connections (resistance) will not allow it to be used fully.
Good luck.
(Keep in mind, I did not just give you permission to open your laptop. Very delicate on the inside, and painful if you have never done it before.)
