Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook
My Pavillion dv1000 died completely on me a week ago (wouldn't start up at all). I ordered the reinstallation disks from HP and started afresh. Worked fine for a few mins until I went to Windows Update. Downloaded service pack 2 just fine but stopped half way through service pack 3. I thought I would just leave that one and shut the computer down but it told me that it had 34 updates to do and then it would close down automatically. Whizzed through 14 of them and then froze! It keeps wanting to install these updates but then seems to have a problem when it gets this far! Does anyone have an answer (make it simple - I'm not that good with technology!!)
You can always try to do the updates one at a time instead of doing the bulk update option?
Go to Windows Update website and do the Manual Option instead of the automatic one.
Windows Update link
I would try and do all the "Critical ones" first and leave Service pack 3 alone till all those are done. Then if you get those done do SP3.
Alternatively you can turn OFF windows update and just not update it anymore. As long as you have a up to date Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam program you should be fine, but I know a lot of people like having all of the updates as well.
