Question about Tomtom ONE GPS Receiver
I bought a TT1 2nd ed for my parents after they moved to a new town. It is their own source of direction - invaluable.
I wanted to update the TT1 to the latest software, or whatever it was updatable to, basically to bring it up to date. What a mistake..
My issue now: It doesn't work anymore. It keeps showing an animation showing the sd card coming out of its slot and ending up with a red cross over it. I tried everything:
1. Restoring to an earlier backup: it doesn't work. The progress bar doesn't move and at some point, I get an error message: "An error ocured. Australia.mid" (I have the Australian map loaded).
2. Tried re-setting it. From when it's in sleep mode, when it's on, for 15 sec, for 30 sec. Nothing. When it's on and I press the reset button, the screen goes blank, but it doesn't restart after, say, 15 sec of holding the reset button down. And when I restart the unit, I get that yellow line loading on the bottom of the screen, up to about 3/4 full. Then it stops and gives me that animation again, with the red cross on the sd card...
There was suggested in another similar help topic to re-install the TomTom home software on the Unit - not on the computer. I don't have a TT Home software on the unit, nor do I have the choice of installing it, form either CD or from my computer, or from any source. The only TT Home software that I can see is the one needed on the computer itself. I re-downloaded it, run it again - same result.
This is what is contained in the TT unit sd card: * APPLICATION: Tom Tom Application for ONe XL, ONE, ONE New Edition and ONE Third Edition - 10Mb * MAPS: Australia - 93.4Mb * VOICES: Only 4 voices that I kept - approx 3Mb * SATELLITE IMAGERY: Australia - 3.7Mb
The top info says that there's 4.9Mb free on the card.
That's all I can tell you a the moment... I can get rid of that yellow line loading only past 3/4, and that red cross on the SD card. Please help!
I experienced the exactly same problem/symptoms with the backup restore function today. After installing the new firmware application on my TomTom Go 510, I did a new backup of my TomTom using the Home Application, I then attempted to "restore" that backup to two spare SD cards. The dialog box indicated "restoring," but nothing was being restored. My work-around, which worked great, was to locate the Backup Storage folder on my hard drive, and Drag & Drop its contents onto the spare SD cards (after erasing them).
I'm running the TomTom Home application (v 1.5.106) on an Intel iMac, OSX 10.4.10.

That happens because de "application download" ( probably navcore 7.900 ) is not compatible with your map version.
You must reinstall the old navcore ( propably 7.162.xxx)

I had exact same issue today! I had to put the SD card into a card reader and in another USB port on my PC and then I formatted the SD card and then copied a previous TomTom backup onto the card. Worked fine after that. For some reason when it was in the TomTom it kept reporting there was only a few mb left when there was at least 100mb left.
The catch is to backup!
