Question about Sony Wireless Controller for PS3

PS3 Controller Being weird

Hi,
Just today, my PS3 controller started acting weird.
I can turn on and off the PS3 with it, no problem. All buttons appear to work, however, when I start a game, the problems begin.
If I press the PS button and get to the XMB menu, i can't use it. Turning the controller off and on fixes this, but only once, the second time I try to use the XMB, it won't work. Also, all of the buttons work, until i start to play that game, for example in PES 2009, I can set up a match, but once I begin to play, only the analog sticks work.

Any ideas? I don't have the money for a new controller at the minute :(

SOURCE: ps3 controller buttons getting mixed up

Ok I found out the simple problem and solution. It is the black foam strip that is right in back of the terminal strip fight by the lights once you open the controller. A piece of black foam is supposed to be underneath the clear strip in order for the controller to turn on and function. Adding paper or bundled tape helps the issue of buttons acting up if you press down on L3 as well. Check out this video it gave me the epiphany - It also helps when the buttons malfunction , this is why I opened it to begin with .

Menu/option screen will not show

Jay, this is a weird message to get, but not uncommon. This only pops up for 2 reasons. First, if you did a reset to your system or added/replaced the hard drive(HDD) Second, if the system is having trouble recognizing the controller. Remember, the controllers for the PS3 are "Bluetooth" and has to sync with the system like all other "Bluetooth" devices, but can be wired and act like the old school controllers. It commonly asks you to connect the controller if you do a startup in "safe mode". If you did a reset, or installed a new HDD, then it may put you automatically in the "Safe mode" menu, where you HAVE to wire the controller. Good luck! Hope this helps. ^^

Rock Cand controller for ps3 stopped working

Hi. Not sure what you could do. Turn your ps3 on manually so no controller is connected. Now hold your playstation home button for at least 30 seconds and it should start to flash and sync with your ps3.If not have a look if there is a reset button on the controller. There is normally a small pin hole on them which allows you to do this. Let me know what fixes your problem. Thanks

My Ps3 Remote Is Acting Weird It Is Selecting Buttons That I Am Not Pressing Please Help !!!

If no other controllers or remotes linked to the PS3 are on at the moment then this sounds like an internal hardware issue with the PS3 remote. Has anything been spilled in it? Has it been dropped? It can happen with excessive use as well, but it sounds like it needs to be replaced unless you are comfortable working with the internal parts.

My controller was working fine but when I started it today... the lights just kept blinking and if I tried to press the PS button, it would not work. I changed the battery and turned it off and on again...

Putting batteries in controller
Turn on the PS3
Turn on controller
Press the sync button, the LEDs will flash rapidly
Insert the usb that comes with the controller, the LEDs flash slowly
Press the home button on the remote
READY.

I dripped a bit of water on my dualshock 3 and its buttons started acting up. i left the pad for a while. when i press the ps button i get nothing and when i connect via usb the lights just flash. help...

Water on electronics is extremely problematic. In almost all cases, unless properly and promptly taken care of, the device is usually ruined. When you spilled the water on it and then pressed buttons, the electricity that is normally sent was intensified by having a conductive material present, and the internal components were probably fried. This is why the controller can't correctly interpret the buttons that you are pushing. The PS3 controller is problematic in that to turn off the controller, you actually have to press buttons. In the future, whenever you spill water on any electronic item, immediately turn it off and allow to air dry for at least 2 days before even attempting to turn it on again. Unfortunately, in this case, I think you are just out a controller.

The left joystick for ps3 controller is acting up when I press down it activates other controls.

Plug the controller in via USB and see if you can recreate the problem.
If yes, then it sounds like a faulty controller assuming it happens in all games and all menus.
If no, then unpair the PS3 controller by holding down the "ps" button and selecting "turn off controller" from the onscreen menu.
Then plug the controller into the PS3 using a USB cable and power it on by holding down the PS button again.

We have an Intec G7789 Infinite Play wireless controller and we can't get it to work with our PS3. We have tried everything that the instructions say but it won't connect.

I dun really know how I did it, I had the same problem as u guys. And I try all sorta method.
  1. the last method that I tried was to leave my USB receiver thing in and then restart my ps3. With my controller turned off.
  2. After the PS3 restarts, I turned on my controller.
  3. Then I pressed the home and link button together. And those 4 lights on ur controller will flash really fast.
  4. Then I replugged my USB receiver, and the controller light will flasher a lot slower.
  5. Then just press "home" and the controller should sync with your PS3.
  6. And after that NEVER remove ur USB. LOL. After that, everytime u turn on ur PS3 just press the home button and the controller should sync with ur PS3.
  7. And remember to always to turn on ur PS3 before u turn on your controller.
Well that's my solution, if it doesn't work for u then sorry. Get a refund. I was planning to get a refund but then everything luckily worked out. Good luck and keep trying.

Problems connecting a ps3 controller

Here's how to connect it tou your ps3. Mine works perfectly guys.

1. Turn your ps3 off without the USB key given with the controller
2. Make sure your controller is off.
3. Turn on the ps3
4. Turn on the controller
5. Press on the sync. button of your controller.
6. Plug the USB key into one of your ps3's port
7. When the light above your controller starting to flash slower, just pess the home button and your controller will be sync.

You can't turn on the ps3 with this controller. So turn it on manually than press the home button of the controller to turn the controller on.

If my post doesn't solve your problem, I really don't know how to solve it. I managed to connect mine so I hope it'll be the same for you!

Sorry for my bad English folks! You know... french people =S

CONTROLLER PROBLEM

Try resetting your Controller. Using a paper clip, there is a small reset button on the underside of the SIXAXIS. Press it.

While your PS3 is still on, press the PS button on the controller.
