Window's doesn't recognize there's a battery.

My HP zv6000 one day suddenly wouldn't work on battery power, but worked fine on AC power. I bought a new battery, that didn't work, so I bought a new AC power supply, that didn't work either. I flashed the BIOS to the newest version, and downloaded the new processor driver, that didn't work either.

With the computer off and the battery in, the blue lightning bolt shows up, but as soon the computer shows the XP symbol while it's booting up, the lightning bolt disappears and the system doesn't recognize a battery.

Today I stripped down the computer to the MOBO and checked it over, but everything's just fine, no loose solders, no burn marks on the board, so what could it be?

The battery and AC adapter replacements were both OEM, but I also purchased an aftermarket 12 cell battery, and a smaller aftermarket AC adapter, no combination of any of these works.

Did you replace the battery with a HP OEM replacement or with a aftermarket equivalent?

HP dv7-1448 not powering up, even when plugged in

Try this:

1. Unplug the machine and remove the battery.
2. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds with the battery out and unplugged.
3. Replace the battery and plug it back in.
4. Try and power it up.
5. If it doesn't work, there is the potential that the battery is dead and the AC adapter may be broken. This would prevent the battery from being charged and it wouldn't work when it was plugged into the wall, so try and borrow an adapter from the same laptop to test this.
6. Hopefully something worked, because if it didn't, the laptop may bed dead. Hope this helps!

HP Pavilion zv6000 power issue. My laptop fan kicks into high gear whenever the adapter is plugged in. Frequently it suddenly shuts off completely to keep itself from overheating. If I use battery-only...

the PC needs to be cleaned, every year or it will overheat.
lint packs up.
what is the ADAPTeR, we cant guess them. ever.

aH the AC power pack is the ADAPTER?

i bet the battery goes dead with no adapter right
so the acid test is this
no battery run on the adapter
if that fails, the adapte is wrong or dead. or weak
1: wrong size 65w or 100w. less never.
2: wrong voltage ,19vdc is correct for HP. not 12,
3: the jack on the mobo for 19v is cracked ,common on some

i never buy PC with this part , I buy Elitebooks that cure that horror.
what happens is you flex cable.
and the jack flexes and then the solder joint crack
all do, its one bad horror. (mine uses a anti crack flex cable inside)

Unknown problem

I would say your battery is fine. What happened is the computer was running off the battery even though it recognized it was plugged in. There is a piece in the power jack that tells the laptop that you are plugged in, but it doesn't necessarily mean the adapter is working. I would have the adapter checked to be sure it's working before I suspected the battery.

Hp pavilion zv6000 wont recognize dvd+r

Hi Terry,

The answer is pretty simple, the ZV series is about 4 years old, back then DVD manufacturers decided which formats they would support as it was too expensive to make desktop drives, let alone, laptop drives that supported all formats. That drive only works with DVD-R and I believe DVD-RW. If you want to burn other formats, the laptop will only support them if you add an external drive of a newer make.

Note: Virtually all current models support ALL DVD formats and many support BluRay as well.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Laptop will not power up with Adapter

It sounds like there is a problem with your motherboard. You would have to take it someplace to run diagnostics on it. It may be time for a new laptop

HP PAVILION ZV 6000 SHUTS DOWN AFTER LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES

Is this on battery or power supply?
If on AC power supply, then it sounds like a heat related issue.
Make sure you can hear the cooling fan running and you may need to blowe the dust out of it with a can of compressed air.

My H5450 won't charge!

When you charge up your iPaq, do you use the cradle, or do you use the AC-adapter with the little iPaq power converter that came with the iPaq? Try both, and see if it charges up your pda. Try and borrow an iPaq car-charger and see if it charges up that way (the ones that do not need the iPaq power converter). If you are lucky enough to power up the iPaq even for 2 minutes, enable USB fast charging in the SETTING -> BATTERY. Your USB-data-cable or cradle will then be able to charge it up that way...
