Question about Sta Rite Sr400na Max E Therm Pool & Spa Heater Dual Electronic Ignition Lo Nox 400,000 Btu Natural Gas

1 Answer

We have had our pool heater 8 months now. We have a salt system - the thermal regulator has been replaced 3 times and now this 4th one has gone bad!

Pentair says it must be our pool, but our water is tested fine at Leslies and Olympic pool, they say the salt, chlorine, PH etc are all accurate.

We believe this heater must not like salt water, the pool guy even put a check valve in and that didnt help. Any known issues with this heater and salt water?

Water never actually comes in contact with above mentioned part,so i dont believe your htr knows or cares whatv system you are using.since its number 4 i would suspect a main board problem.voltage readings would be helpful

Sta Rite 333 Btu Natural Gas Heater Maxetherm Sr333na Leaks water and high copper in my water

It sounds like your water has either been running at a low pH level, or you have a salt system. Basically your heat exchanger coil has dissolved into your pool water.
The exchanger can be replaced although it is pricey. I would recommend replacing it with a cupronickel coil. This is far more resistant to the type of corrosion you have experienced. Just be sure to keep a closer eye on the pH also.

It means you need to repeat the checks on fuel supply, thermal regulator, check for correct orifices, etc., per your owners manual. Check pages 42-43 for more information.

Heater wont heat it says 106 all the time

The thermistor is bad...its job is to read the temperature of the water and transmit it back to the control board. Your replacement part number is 42001-0053S.
