Question about Biostar K8M800-M7A Motherboard

Windows xp won't load on new biostar motherboard, please help

I went to buy a new pc and the salesman talked me out of it since it would be used for a small business. Instead I upgraded my pc I already have like the salesguy suggested. I put a new Biostar G31-M7 TE motherboard, put the Pent 4 in it, bought a new Seagate Barracuda SATA ATA 500GB HDD, bought a new LG DVDR drive and new card reader, no floppy drive, but used the original LG DVD drive. I've got it all plugged in correct and everything. It turns on, both DVD's turn on, card reader also turns on, and when the monitor comes on it only recognizes the HHD and the original DVD drive. I went into BIOS and switched it to boot off of the original drive which was the only one detected. I put my windows XP CD in & a Vista CD from my laptop they both come up on the monitor as "Reboot and Select proper boot device, Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press any key." when you press any key it just pops up again and again and again. The DVD drive runs the cd's but doesn't do anything. When it boots up the company that is listed at the top is American Megatrends. If I try to reboot the same screen pops up. I bought all this hardware at Micro Center. Any help I would appreciate it, because I am at the pissed off stage. John

Go to biostar web sight and download sata driver. You may need to run disk that came with motherboard first. Driver may be located on the disk. if not get it from biostar.

  1. Make sure the CD/DVD drive is connected and has power.
  2. You didn't say if the drive is IDE or SATA. If it is IDE, make sure the BIOS has IDE enabled.
  3. Check the 'boot order' in the BIOS and make sure the CD/DVD drive is first.

Motherboard Driver

"Many BIOSTAR motherboards may have passed certain Windows 7 tests but that does not mean that Windows 7 drivers are available from BIOSTAR."

Do this after the windows 7 installation is completed, go to start, programs, windows update and complete all the updates, If this doesn`t helf keep updating as they are available.
Windows 7 is fairly new and some drivers are not yet available. In time, just hang in there.
Hope this helps.

Biostar GF 7025-M2 v.6.0 Motherboard Drivers For Windows XP Home

yes there are seperate versions for 32bit and 64 bit . check on majorgeeks.com for the drivers, also check cnet downloads for drivers. If the mother board is more than 5yrs old you might not find the 32 bit drivers on the manufacturer's website. also check microsoft , if they have any drivers for that motherboard. good luck

Biostar GF 7100-M7 windows xp trouble

Do you see any text at all when booting up? If so, try pressing F8 on reboot to get to the Windows Boot menu. It's not real apparent when you are supposed to do this, so once the system gets past the initial Power on Self Test, start tapping it. Select Safe Mode and see if your display loads. Set your video settings to something safe and simple like 1024 x 768. Reboot to normal Windows and begin bumping your video settings up from there until you get them where you want them.

Windows not loading

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Whenever Microsoft Windows XP is installed on a system, the OS is binded to the motherboard, specifically to the chipsets. I am assuming that when you replaced the motherboard, the OS was not reinstalled and it was still binded to the original Dell Dimension board, most likely an Intel 925X Express chipset. When the OS started to load, it could not find the original 925X chipset and instead finds itself confronted with Biostar VIA P4M900/VT8237A chipsets which is an unknown, hence the BSOD.

You could try:
  • boot from CD drive with an XP installer and use the second repair option;
  • boot into Safe Mode (F8) and try to uninstall the Intel devices entries (except the CPU) and allow the system to auto detect (if it will) the new hardware;
  • backup your files and perform a fresh/clean install on the new motherboard.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
