Question about Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7815 Notebook
I have a Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7815 with Vista. After the latest round of Microsoft required updates, my internet explorer stops working. It gives a message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" but the icon in the bottom right corner indicates that the internet is working. Also, the Microsoft Update aplication can still work to check for updates.
I have reverted back to a past checkpoint and the internet function returns. But then I have to do the update.
I have no idea is the update is the actual problem or if it is something else. But I have tried so many things and I am all out of answers.
Don't do any microsoft updates, just make sure your running the latest virus programs with the latest version virus definitions and dont' go to sites you shouldn't be going to and you'll never run into a problem. Microsoft updates are supposed to protect your computer from hackers but using a good virus program and using a different browser such as firefox or opera and you'll be good.

Most likely this is do to updating your Internet Explorer to version 8.0 and greater. With 8.0 unfortunately Microsoft broke a lot of working websites.
There is some hope in the form of a "Compatibility mode" button in the new I.E. however even this doesn't always work.
This article explains the Compatibility mode and where to look for it once you are on the website.
Another alternative is to give Firefox (a completely different, but usually better) browser a shot and see if it works for you. Most of the "improvements" in I.E. 8.0 (not the bad ones) were taken from either Firefox or Safari anyways so best to get it from the source.
Here is the information on the Firefox browser (which I'm currently using) if the above solution doesn't fix your issue.
