Question about Olympus FE-170 Digital Camera
I HAVE A CAMERA THAT WILL LET ME LOOK AT THE PICTURES BUT WHEN I GO TO TAKE PICTURES IT MAKES FUNNY NOISES AND TURNS OFF. WHAT DO I DO?
It sounds as if the lens mechanism is damaged, and when it tries to protract it fails and shuts down.
When you just switch to camera mode, I would try helping the lens come out to get it loose.
If all fails, send in it to be serviced, but expect to pay no less than $80 to get this problem fixed.
Hope I helped,

sounds like the Zoom mechanism is getting stuck (the system is trying to protect the mechanism by shutting off).
you need to send this off or take it to be fixed. these compact digital cameras seem to have problems like this all the time,
