Lexmark x4650 print cartridge carrier (lid) broken

Recently, I went to print with my lexmark, but the ink came out light (almost unreadable). I opened the lid to see if I could resit the cartridge and fix it. When I opened the carriers, I noticed one carrier lid had a moving piece now. This stopped me from closing the lid (it kept hanging down and not letting it latch). I managed to take a piece of tape, and keep the moving piece in place, to finally close the lid. Tried to print and there was a knocking. Canceled the print cycle, readjusted the tape, and tried again. It worked with no knocking this time, but still barely any ink. Can I replace the ink carriage? Is there another way to repair this without a full ink cartridge replace?

SOURCE: Carrier Stall is the error

Hi,
Please do the following..

To check the cartridge carrier:

  1. Unplug the printer.
  2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand and then take them out.
  3. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier. Do you still receive a Carrier Stall error message?
  4. If not, put the cartridges back into the carrier and snap them in at the back. The message should no longer appear.
If the power light on the printer is not blinking, the error message may be caused by a communication error. Do the following:
  1. Remove any other devices attached to the USB/LPT port.
  2. Uninstall the Lexmark printer.
  3. Connect the printer directly to the PC and ensure that power is being supplied to the printer.
  4. Reinstall the printer.
Thank you....

SOURCE: Recently renewed ink cartridges in Lexmark x4650

This can either be blocked nozzles on the cartridge, or an alignment problem. Go to Start - All Programs - Lexmark - Solution Center and print out a Clean Nozzle Page and an Alignment Page from the maintenance tab. That should fix the issue.

SOURCE: Can't change Lexmark Z42 ink cartridge

You can unplug the printer from the power source. With the printer off, open the cover where the cartridge carrier is. Hold the solid white tape found in the middle inside the printer. Slowly drag the cartridge carrier to the center. Replace the cartridges. Close the cover. Plug printer back to the power source. Hope this helps.

Replaced black cartirdge and now i am getting cartridge error consult users manual

Make sure you are using genuine Lexmark black cartridge. Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges. You might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark.
Try to reinsert your black cartridge and make sure it is properly seated in the cartridge carrier. If error comes back up right after placing it in the printer, then it could be a faulty cartridge. Try to replace it with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge. If you are already using a genuine Lexmark cartridge, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

How do I change the ink cartridge on my lexamark x4650

Hi there.
You open the lid on the front/top of the printer.
Then the printer will set up the print head with the cartridges in the middle. There are white plastic clips on front of each cartridge, pull them gently towards you and the cartridge moves slightly up or you will have to pull it up. To put the new one is you must first take all the wrapping off the cartridge and twist the orange lid off the bottom of the cartridge. Make sure you put the right one in the right place. Push them gently down until you hear a "click" close the lid on the printer and carry on printing.
