HP 4700 color laser printer is networked through an off-site server. Printer usually works well except when someone prints a multi-page document in color. It seems to get confused and starts spitting out MANY pages of gibberish. Some pages are blank and some have only 1 or 2 symbols, but mostly the pages have one line of various symbols at the top of the page. Many of the symbols are so obscure that none of us in the office have ever seen them before. Our tech department has looked at the printer on 3 different occasions and stated that there's nothing wrong with it. Maybe you can help?
This could be a driver issue. Without knowing exactly how your printer is connected to the network I'm making a rough guess here.
There is a Universal HP Printer driver that could be tried as well as the PCL5, PCL6 and Post Script drivers.
I've had issues with the PCL6 drivers before doing this and I usually install the PCL5 drivers instead.
