To remove and clean the printhead on your Canon IP1300 printer, follow these steps:
Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet.
Open the printer cover and raise the printhead lock lever.
Lift the printhead out of the printer.
Moisten a cotton swab with warm water and gently clean the printhead nozzles. Be sure not to touch the gold-colored electrical contacts.
If the printhead nozzles are heavily clogged, you may need to soak the printhead in a solution of warm water and a mild cleaning agent for a few hours. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the cleaning solution.
After cleaning the printhead, shake it gently to remove any excess water, and then let it dry for a few hours.
Once the printhead is dry, replace it in the printer and lower the printhead lock lever.
Close the printer cover and plug the printer back in.
Turn the printer on and perform a printhead alignment to ensure that the printhead is properly aligned.
If you are unable to clean the printhead or if the problem persists after cleaning, it may be necessary to replace the printhead. A new printhead can be purchased from the manufacturer or an authorized dealer.
It can be acheived by using the cleaning program that the printer software uses. If that doesn't work, time to purchase a new printer, assuming the ink is original as should the cartridges be.
First of all it is not recommended to do any hardware troubleshooting from your end, because if your HP Photosmart 6520 is within warranty so that would be voided by company. So after that you have to pay further for any of the issues related with hardware which might have lay off if you may have not touched the Printer. It is suggested to check if your printer is under warranty from the link given below: http://support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty
All of the HP printers I have encountered so far have the print head as part of the ink cartridge. Change the cartridge and you automatically change the printhead.
This is the reason why HP cartridges are so much more expensive than Epson, for instance.
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product, if it is not already turned on.
Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the center of the product. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.
