Unplug the tv, take off the back cover and feel the top of 3 capacitors. On my d52w20, CP150 (rated at 2200uf 16V) was blown and the top was bulged out. You should also check CP120 and CP114 to see if either are blown. I don't have a clear picture of where it's located, but I have a picture of what you should see after you take off the back cover.

In the middle of the picture you see an aluminum heatsink in the shape of a 'C' with the opening facing away from you. That is where CP150 is located. CP120 and CP114 should be located nearby, but if you can feel a bulge on any of the tops of those 3 capacitors replacing them should fix your problem. Replace the existing capacitors with a higher voltage rating of either 25v or 35v.

"4 capacitors on the power/deflection board. CP110 220uf 200v. CP120 220uf 35 Volts. CP114 220uf 35 volts. CP150 2200 16 volt. also check entire delfection board for cold solder especially around flyback. bad connections here can cause problems like some of the fp fuses blowing and cutting off convergence supply"

The rca itc222 chasis is a rather problem child that has many common problems. the most common being the flyback transformer, the horixonatal output transistor, and some electrolytic capacitors. technicians have a device much like the computer for cars that read error codes of the processor. i believe ther around 25 different errors that can lead to a shutdown

SOURCE: 52" RCA big screen tv turns on and few seconds turns off by itsel

if you heard a hissing or like static sound your board probably has a hole in it now. the board on the left side with the flyback fransformer. the hole is from where a prong has come loose an is arking over an it burns the board the ark is the sound you heard.

My 2004 rca hdtv keeps turning itself off when i turn it on

I do wish i had more but one thing that will cause a problem like this is spraying air freshener or spray cleaners where the spray can get inside the back of the TV. It will also cause it to pop. Hope its this easy to fix for you, good luck.

spray the cleaning rag then wipe TV clean.

My rca 52"tv makes a hissing sound and shuts off when i try to turn it on

capacitor has blown you will easily find the fault when you take of the back and look and look at the power board it will be the one with the top round shaped or the one with a brown stain on the board around it. make sure you don't touch the board for around 10 minutes after the power has been turn'd off as this type of fault will leave volts in other parts of the board.

Keeps turning off and hissing after?

hissing can be a couple of things but the first thing that i would look at is the flyback transformer and horizontal output transistor. it could possibly be a capacitor blown to0

52 in RCA

The T.V. has no lamp, it has 3 guns red, blue,& green. Unplug the lead that goes to the high voltage splitter(make sure t.v. is unplug). Then turn the t.v. back on if you hear the H.V. lead making a hissing sound continuously most likely the h.v. block needs to be replaced. Follow the lead from the flyback to the h.v. splitter, this will be the lead that unplugs at the splitter.
