Question about Arris SURFboard SB4200 Modem

1 Answer

Password,Username, and SSID

I have a SB4200 Motorola Surfboard Modem.I am trying to hook up a Wifi Connection from my Internet source (modem) to my Nintendo Wii. I have been searching on the Internet for hours. I already have my IPAdress, DNS, Default Gateway, and Subnet Mask. To help the answerer of my question my IP Adress is 192.168.15.2, also I have already searched the manual/guide book for a password and username, googled everything I could find, and lastly I have tried to find the SSID which would be very helpful. Thanks!

The SB4200 Modem according to the Motorola website does NOT have wireless capabilities. In fact not a lot of cable modems do have wireless built in to them.

That is the modem to which you refered and it does not have wireless. In order to connect your Wii wirelessly you would need to purchase a WIRELESS ROUTER, which most major stores carry varios brands such as Linksys or Netgear.

How do I change the "Pass code" on my wireless Motorola surfboard modem ???

If you mean the wireless pass code or Passphrase you need to log onto your modems web page which normally sits at IP address: 192.168.100.1. In the wireless section there is the pass code update field.

The SB4100 is a digital modem that uses cable TV network to provide broadband Internet access, it can't work with an analog telephone line, for this type of Internet access (also called switched Internet connection), you need an analog internal or external 56K modem, and also you'll need a user name and password (an account) from the Internet provider service (ISP) ; for a temporary Internet connection maybe a prepaid cellular modem (GPRS, EDGE, 3G or 4G) USB type could help you better.

Motorola SB4200 Modem IP not working

You can always do the 30-30-30 reset as follows:
  1. When router is powered on, press the reset button and hold for 30 seconds. (Use a paper clip or something sharp)
  2. While holding the reset button pressed, unplug the power of the router and hold the reset button for 30 seconds
  3. While still holding the reset button down, turn on the power to the unit again and hold for another 30 seconds.
This should allow for a full reset of the modem. Once that's done, connect your computer to it with an Ethernet cable to access it's WebUI using the Default Gateway (192.168.100.1), or connect to the WIFI using the default SSID and Password that are usually written on the modem itself.

I hope this works!
