Kenmore electric dryer shuts off after 5 minutes and won't restar

Kenmore 80 series electric dryer model #110.67832791
Dryer runs for 5 minutes or so and shuts off completely. Doesn't start again for an hour so and even then runs for 5 minutes and shuts off. Heat stays on while motor is running, but shuts off when motor does. Dryer vents and even dryer is lint free (already disassembled, removed drum), belts and pulleys/wheels (that support drum) are fine.

I haven't tried rotating drum while holding start button. But when it stops and I push the start button, there is no noise as if it's dead or plugged off. I can restart after a while (shortest time I tried is an hour), but same thing happens again.

Thanks, I will check as you suggested and inform. And I'm sure door switch is not the issue.

It's been a while to the test the dryer.
When motor is acting up, there is 120V between red and black wires. It sounds like motor is getting power, but isn't going to run, i.e, it has gone bad.
How do I test thermal overload switch, just to make sure it is the bad motor? Where is it located?

Kenmore 700 series 110.67741600 Dryer runs fine with air dry(no heat) with heat shuts down in a few minutes, it heats up ok, in fact I wonder if it really is overheated, I'm not sure, then just shuts down, I disassembled the entire machine and removed every spec of dust, in the motor, in the vents - no change

When you try to start it again do you hear a humming comeing from the motor? can you jump start it by turning the drum while holding the start button? If you say yes to these questions you have a bad motor.

the only thing that would make sense to me is that your thermal overload in your motor has tripped. you have a belt switch i believe it has 2 blue wires going to it check and see if you hear a click sound when you let the belt pulley down. If you can run the dryer and check voltage from the red to black wire at the motor when it is acting up and you see that you have 120 volts your motor is the culprite. if you are getting voltage that means the timer is trying to turn the motor but it cant because there is something wrong with it.

also have you checked your door switch. with the door open you should not have continuity with the door closed you should have continuity. check this also may be a suspicion

SOURCE: I dropped a screwdriver down the lint vent on the ...

I have done similar three different ways. I used Duct tape wrapped around the end of piece of garden hose shoved down the lint trap hole. Used a magnet instead of duct tape in similar fashion. Also used a pieace of large then garden hose with a shop vac, item becomes lodged on the end of the hose just long enoght to remove from slot. All three worked and resulted in a good handshakes from those in need.

My Kenmore dryer keeps cutting off

Vacuum all of the air passages including the hose to the outside vent. Remove the lint filter and wash it in hot water and detergent; rinse and replace after drying. Restricted air flow may be tripping an over-temp switch.

Kenmore Series 80 (110.74882401) heat cycles on only for 10 secs

This is a pretty easy fix and I recently had the same problem. I made a quick video about it. The problem was the dryer was run only a few mins then quit. The dryer limit was tripping because the control thermostat was not shutting down the lower safety limit was tripping and the power from the control thermostat was diverted via the orange wire to the timer motor which kinda caused the main motor to stop. When i ran the dryer in NO HEAT the dryer stayed running and that was my clue as to what may of been happening and that was the problem in a nutshell. My video:
