Question about RCA HD52W59 HDTV Projection Television

2 Answers

RCA HD52W59 We were installing recessed lights and the existing wiring in our home was incorrect. To make a long story short when wires touched it made the television in the other room start to smoke and hiss. A few hours later we turned it on and everything worked perfect for about 15 minutes and then we heard loud cracking like firecrackers coming from it and it went dead. Now there is nothing no power, sound or picture.

Willtab-Is a high voltage shutdown hard to fix? Is it expensive? I don't want to fix it if it isn't worth it. We have since bought a new plasma but I don't want to let this one go to junk if it is an inexpensive fix.

Can I wire 3 Utilitech 3000K recessed gimbal LED lights in series without any power or heat problems?

Short answer: yes but if you wire them in series when the one closest to the power source burns out the others will not work. Electricians wire all light fixtures in parallel. I think you really want to know if you can wire 3 led lights on the same circuit without any issues. Two things to look at 1. box the gimbals came in will tell you how they are rated for installation. Some can be put against insulation, some cant. 2. As far a power is concerned...I am assuming this is a residential install so you need to check what if anything is on the circuit with the LEDs. Hooked up by themselves will not cause any power issues. But adding them to an existing circuit may. If they are going to be added to an existing circuit you need to find out what else is on the circuit so that adding the LEDs will not overload the circuit.

Samsung home theatre trips off the whole light in the house when plugged in and the lights comes back on when unplugged. What ic is responsible for this pls ?

Unless your house circuits are incorrectly wired, the lights shouldn't go out. Lighting, heating and power outlets should be on separate circuits and individual circuits for stoves, dryers and water heaters. Also separate circuits for each floor too.

Anyway an IC (integrated circuit - a 'chip') wouldn't cause this. You have a dead short in the power supply unit which takes the mains voltage and reduces it to the voltage that the unit uses, probably 5 or 12 volts.

Did you check the cord to see if it has been damaged? Sometimes, cats, dogs, mice, or continual bending or kinking can cause the insulation to fail and when the wires touch, you have your dead short.

I'm using a Cooper Master Dimmer with a Cooper toggle type 3 way switch circuit controlling one incandescent light fixture. My home is 30 years old and I've found many deviations from acceptable wiring...

The problem is most likely not the dimmer or the wiring, but rather the existing 3-way switch.

First of all, the Aspire smart dimmer does not work in conjunction with traditional, 3-way, on/off toggle switches. When the 3-way switch is in one-position, it lets the dimmer work, but in the other position, it cuts power to the entire lighting circuit - and the smart dimmer is NOT going to be able to override that. You instead need to get the corresponding remote dimmer (sometimes called a slave, or a companion dimmer), and use that to replace the standard 3-way switch.

That may also solve your "mystery turn-on" issue. Even though those dimmers can use the existing 3-way switch wiring, you have to REALLY pay attention to the instruction sheets to see how the master and the slave wire up to each individual electrical box. I vaguely remember that even if you were to use the product in a single-pole application, those two wires that, I assume, you attached to the traveller wires in the house needed to be shorted together in order to work - and since you have them running into a 3-way switch, the errors that you're seeing are bound to happen.

Long story short, get the slave dimmer, install it according to the instructions, and all these problems should go away.

Reverse light fuse blows when put into reverse

Unfortunately, many possibilities. If you have time, start by removing both reverse lamp sockets from light assembly(and keep from touching any metal), remove bulbs from sockets, CAREFULLY INSPECT sockets and wires. New fuse of correct rating. Turn key on and try again in reverse.
Fuse still blows: Next place to look is transmission reverse electrical switch and wiring as far as you can trace looking for burned/stripped wires near transmission and wires by sockets
Fuse doesn't blow: Turn key off and install one lamp in socket at a time. DO NOT install sockets into fixture at this time. Test. Remove first lamp to check second. If still O.K., each socket back into fixture(one at a time same as before)and test. Most common problems: Sockets contaminated, wires shorting at sockets, bulbs installed incorrectly shorting to ground.

My existing bathroom light switch is shorting out. i replaced it with a new switch replacing the wires in the exact order they were taken off. the light now stays on regardless of the position the switch...

hey if the the switch installed has only two connection one the ON and other the OFF

so get a tester and check for a the phase wire i.e the wire with current.... and see to it it dosent touches the wire which goes to the light ..if it touches its shot and your light is always on.....

so please check that it dosent touches each other before fixing and after fixing in the wall unit....and there may be also some wire in side which makes it ti touch eachother .......
