Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

The 12-volt TV for my motorhome won't power on. It's a FlexVision Model AVT-988, 9' color DC operation, distributed by Audiovox. * I found a bad 15amp fuse for the TV circuit and replaced it (probably shorted when careless with a multimeter when checking a nearby 12-volt accessory outlet), but still no luck. * It's definitely getting power to the DC input, as checked with a multi-meter. * It's not the TV fuse nor the fuse holder, which in the past had popped loose from the circuit board. I need the TV fixed rather than replaced with another type because it fits perfectly in a molded plastic cover - any other TV would look very odd to renters that rent our RV.

If you hear the unit comming on and theres no sound or Picture, then theres a fault in the horizontal sweep/HI Voltage circuit. This should not be fooled with unless you know the safty issues with HI voltage as theres voltage in these sets even after they are unplgged for a while. Good Luck

SOURCE: C4075 burnout.

Good day, javiquez;
The cap C407S that you burnt in the TV is in the circuit that feeds the G-2 to the CRT's. So, it makes sense that your picture quality has suffered. Here is the information on the failed cap and other part I would recommend changeing:
1. C407S; part number 2201-000406; description; c-ceramic,disc; 270 pf, 10%, y5p, 2 kv (2000 volts).
2. D402; part number 0402-00586; description; APIH, 2 kv, 1 a (amp).
Hope this was helpful, good luck, big IRISH.

SOURCE: 12 Volt Cigarette Lighter / Accessory dead

Most likely just replace it. You could pull the fuse and then use a small screwdriver to try and pull the tabs inside the receiver in toward the center a little. It could be that repeated insertion and extraction of the lighter or accessory plug has bent them outward enough that they're not making sufficient contact to power what you plug in. If that doesn't work, replace it and then put the fuse back in.

12 DC ADAPTER

Hi,

Try looking for a Jensen JE2043 with identical specs for the adapter: Input :100-240VAC (50-60Hz); Output : 12Vdc 6Amp. You can try ebay .

Alternately a 13.8/6A regulated power supply for communications equipment would also work. You simply need to hardwire the crown plug and red/black wires.

Good luck and kind regards.

No Color on my Audiovox AVT-1498

That model has a history of bad solder connections in various circuits. I would not be surprised if that is the case with the color circuitry. You may get the color to come and go by slapping the sides of the TV or lifting one corner about 1/2 inch and dropping it. If it does, it is a bad connection and possibly fixable. If no change is noted, it could be a bad semiconductor or capacitor, etc., causing the symptoms. For that size set, it would probably be cheaper to replace with a different brand. Toshiba has a nice 14" model IMO.
