Sounds like the fan is going into thermal overload..the extereme heat may have caused permanent damage to the windings in the fan motor..also check your wiring at the fan capacitor

Central air conditoner outside unit

Well, the answer is yes. I have seen a bad capacitor cause a fan motor to run backwards. BUT..... After replacing the capacitor and WIRING it up the right way, everything should be fine. A lot of aftermarket condenser fan motors are reversible, so it can run counter-clockwise (CCW) or clock-wise (CW). However, most factory fan motors come one directional and on your specific unit, the air should always push out of the top. Running the unit with the fan going backwards will actually some-what do it's job, but damage other components like the compressor because it runs at higher operating pressures than what it is designed for.

Have someone else look at it! That's going to be the best advice I can give you. If they can prove that a capacitor caused the motor to permanently run backwards..... I want to know! Hope this helps and good luck with your unit.

My outside fan will not run and the inside unit runs constantly. can't push the reset button on unit outside

Your out door unit fan motor not runs due to pressure not build up at Heat mode. If its cool mode only fan runs with compressor when thermostat calls for it.

Without having technical knowledge, don't press any reset button. Hope it's helpful?

I have sheared one of four stud bolts that hold the motor fan on my York air condition unit. This is the outside compressor unit- central air. I bought a length of threaded rod to repair this bolt....

Hi, To give you an answer, no it doesn't take anything special to repair the condenser fan motor. This key stock you bought will work just fine as long as you can use it ok. Those outside studs tend to rust as they are in the weather year around, so I would cover it unless it is a heat-pump which runs year around. If not, you can cover it to keep the leaves and debris out of it. Just about any grade of threaded rod will be fine.
Sincerely,

Central air unit two part system, inside and outside. Freezes

If coils are clean and blower is working properly,
then you're probably low on freon.

Bryant central air unit fan doesn't stop.

This is a condenser fan and as long as the A/c unit is in cool mode, this fan will run. The only time it should shut off is when temperature setting is satified and the unit shuts off.

This is my first central heating and cooling unit the heat will come on and heat the house but the big fan inside the unit is not running like it did when we would run the ac is this normal

I assume you are reffering to the compressor outside not running. If so this is for A/C only. In fact once the cold is here to stay you should shut off the compressor "breaker" (located either outide next to unit or in fuse panel) and get a good quality cover for winter. This will keep the leaves and snow out of the unit. Just dont forget to take it off in the summer before you run the A/C or you will damage the system.

Central Air Conditioner

Turn the power to the indoor unit off. Remove the cover where the fan is. Feel the motor of the fan. If it is very hot the bearings have likely gone out. If the fan is cool to the touch I would call a service company because you likely have an electrical problem that will require some training to solve.

Blower fan keeps shutting on/off,

Your blower fan turning on and off shows your thermostat is working. I am willing to bet you have the fan in the automatic condition. Check for a sticking contactor at the outside unit.
