Question about GE 27998GE6 Cordless Phone

Plugged my cordless GE phone into phone jack "A"

64 year old female here. My room's phone jack has been labeled with the letter "A" taped to the wall right under the jack. Right next to the phone jack is where the cable TV cord comes out of the wall.

Does this have anything to do with why my cordless phone's charger keeps its little light blinking red: "Charging" or "in use" even when the phone is out of the cradle and even when it is fully charged, NOT in use and IN the cradle?

yes dial tone...(but I guess I'd better stop asking for your help; I didn't know I had to pay for an answer. I apologize). also forgot the complete info: the wall plate is one plate- the cable TV comes out one hole and the taped on letters between the cable TV hold and the phone jack says "4 A" (maybe none of that matters- the plain old wired phone that I had plugged into that jack worked just fine. And my cordless GE phone words fine; I just wonder why the little red light on the charger cradle keeps blink, blink, blinking...the phone is fully charged and no one is talking on the extension phone, etc... If I will owe you money for yo ur time pleace cancel this request with my thanks for your time so far. nancy

There is a buzzing sound on my end of the phone line, my computer is on DSL and sometimes it disconnects when the phone rings. I've checked the cords and the phone has a new battery.

You have interference due to the DSL overlapping your phone line its usually very common, make sure you have a DSL filter inline with your phone line , if not I would check out the RJ-45 jack in the wall, your phone jack and make sure that there isnt anything wrong with your Jack, you may have to call your phone company and have the phone tech's check out your wall Jack for any interference, they have special phone line meters to measure all this out.

Good luck,

check power ?
Is Ac - DC converter pack plugged into power point ?
Is the DC plug plugged into the phone ?
does power point work ?

Check correct dc voltage being produced from the AC - DC power pack converter ?

Isolate other phones on other extensinos to see if uniden is cause or not of no dial tone.
You may have another phone off hook and phone line has timed out .

We have a lot of static and loud buzzing on the phone

I had the same issue that started on some 3 year old 5.8 GHZ Uniden cordless phones. I moved it from room to room and same buzzing. I found a older Uniden set I had kept in a desk drawer. I swapped out the power transformer (power cord) and it is clear as a bell now.

Phone works in one jack but not another

Hi, Looks like either the wiring is slightly different or the jack plug not quite with in the tolerance limit. Can you swap the cables between the units (if they are removeable) to eliminate the cable as well. I would suspect the cable on the new phone! I would also make sure there is no dirt on the connectors on the plug...there are minute grooves where you can see the meatl...sometinmes these get blocked!

try a corded phone and unplug your cordless. see if that helps. If not go outside to your power meter and near it you should see a box labeled telephone. open it and you "should" see a spot to plug in a corded phone. you first have to unplug the little cord thats already in it then plug in you phone. If no static, then prob is in your house wiring or in a defective old jack or possibly another device plugged into your phone line (computer, answering machine, caller ID box, etc. ) .
If you do have static while outside & plugged into the "test jack" , then prob is in the phone companies regulated facilities and they will come out and fix no charge to you.

because the phone will not work, first prove that it can. Try this: remove the battery and charge it. Read the voltage on the battery label. Read the voltage on the charger label. If the numbers match, then connect 2 wires to the battery from the charger (use tape) with positive terminals on one wire and negatives the other. after charge...about 2 hours, does the phone work?
