Question about iRobot Roomba Discovery SE Bagless Robotic Vacuum

My Roomba Discovery doesn't appear to hold a charge

My Roomba Discovery was packed away for a few months while I was moving. Now it doesn't appear to hold a charge. I dock it (both docking lights come on) and after a while the power light turns green, but as soon as I move it it signals an error and the power light blinks red. Even if I leave it docked, the power light will eventually (after MANY hours)turn green, but after a while will go back to blinking red again, even if I don't touch it. Do I need to replace the battery? How do I do that?

Cor2an,
That sounds like a classic battery failure in the Roomba discovery series. There are sensors inside the battery pack that go bad too. Either way...it's not very practical to repair the battery....the best shot you have would be to order a replacement battery. You just pop the old one out and then put the new one in.

They are available from iRobot for $69 at this link: http://store.irobot.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2799714&cp=2804606.3358509&ab=CMS_AccSuper_Roomba400_102308&parentPage=family

There are sources of less expensive (about $35) Genuine iRobot quality batteries also. You could try www.RoboticVacParts.com at this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-iRobot-APS-battery-Roomba-400-4XXX-Discovery_W0QQitemZ270412120603QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ef5d1821b&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A30

SOURCE: Roomba Docking Station

Probably not, unless you just have to have the docking station. My roomba always had trouble mating with my docking station so I never used it. I just plugged it directly in to will using the AC adapter.

SOURCE: My Roomba does not want to dock

Need more info.
Does the unit go into search mode? "SPOT & CLEAN" flashing? It actually tries to search?
Do you have another roomba to test your dock on to see if IT will dock? If it tries but just cant, then either the dock transmitter, or the roombas receiver is dead. (The round antennae thingys on the dock and the bumper) replace these would be the first point.

use a multimeter to test if it is actually putting out a charge. Is this a regular roomba charger with the green led on top? And it just doesnt light up anymore? If so then the pack is dead. replace it.

My fully charged Roomba 560 just moves a few inches, cleans spins in a circle then stops and a red exclamation point appears. (I've misplaced the manual help !

You have dead nimh (nickle metal hydride) batteries
You will need a replacement. You can test for this by removing the battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds. This will restart the charging cycle as if the battery were new.

I have the irobot roomba and the battery does not hardly hold a charge and now it won't go forward just backwards and around

The Roomba has a rechargable Battery. The Roomba battery like any battery will eventually ware out after so many charges and discharges. Mine lasted about three years and then is would hardly hold a charge. I purchased a new battery and then it worked fine after that.

As for not going forward. That is usually due to a dirty bumper sensor. You have to take the Roomba apart for cleaning that. You can take it to Sears and they will do it for you.

the battery on your roomba is dead, try charging it for 16 hours, after that if it still does not work. you need to replace the battery.

Roomba 4210 replaced aps battery still does not work

Try cleaning the silver contacts on the battery as well as the charging station with a small amount of rubbing alcohol such as an alcohol pad.
Also check to make sure the dirt reserve is completely empty. Also check that the briushes are clear and can move freely.
This 'not charging' is a very common problem with the Roomba and the manufacturers continue to sell rechargable batteries that are no good even though they are aware of the problem.

Roomba Discovery wiggles back and forth and turns over and over

No matter your model Roomba, this occurs when Roomba has gone "crazy." Its brain is no longer working properly and you can usually tell this when you've cleaned the dickens out of it a few times and the behavior is still the same. There's only one possible user fix and that is to take out the battery, hold down the power button for 20-30 seconds then reinsert the battery.

If that doesn't do the trick, IRobot might send you something called an Ozmo which you put in the data port to rewrite Roomba's brain. Unfortunately this requires it to be under warranty unless you get lucky. Good luck, all!
