Question about Canon PowerShot S3 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

Negative effect. I've had my Canon Powershot S3 1S for over a year now. The other day I was taking pictures and it was working fine. I turn it off and set it down. I come back later, turn it on again and the screen shows has white lines that keep flicking over it. I turn it off and take the batteries out. Later I put the batteries back in, turn it on, and find that it is in negative effect. I'm pretty sure that my camera can't do this naturally and I've tried everything to see if I could get it back to normal, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there anything I can do? Is there anything anyone else can do?

I have Canon PowerShot A460 .When i capture a picture it look utterly bright both on Camera Screen and in PC. It flashes both in night mode and in day light or sun light. I 've reset all the functions...

I suspect that your shutter has stopped working. When you take the photos in good light, the shutter stays open causing total over exposure. I bet if you take a photo at night in a dimly lit place with flash, the photos would be fine as this does situation does not rely on the shutter.

Black pictures when using flash

The black images with flash mean that the Iris mechanism in the lens is not working properly, and that needs a professional camera repair service.

Canon A75 No startup sound & display on LCD, rest of things works fine

Think it might be your batteries. 700mah batteries are pretty weak by today's standards (most are at least 2,500 mah these days). I'm guessing your batteries are several years old? If so, they're really only meant to have a usable shelf life of a few years, whether they are used or not. Recommend trying a new set of rechargeable batteries.

Is your canon powershot 540 not turning all of the sudden?

I had the same problem.I called Canon and thanks to their suggestion my camera now works.I was using the wrong type of batteries. The best ones to use are rec-chargeable or alkaline batteries specifically for digital devices.I bought the alkaline ones at Shoppers Drug Mart for $7 for two.Hope that works for you.

Canon Powershot sd30 Black screen

Then it sounds like there may be an error with your CCD (what comverts the light going into your camera into a digital picture, like digital film). even if your warranty is expired canon may still repair this for free. Contact canon at 1-800-OK-CANON and explain to them the problem and that you think the CCD may be defective.
