Question about Apple iPod nano

1 Answer

Ipod nano 1 gig 1st gen, screen on, then goes out repeatedly.

This is a 1st gen 1 gig nano that does not get far enough during the start up proccess to even get any text or apple logo at all. The screen lights up white, stays on about 1 second then goes out for about 4 seconds and then repeats this cycle till no battery life left. Is this a motherboard problem? is not recongized by itunes or computer.

What generation nano do I have?

I don't know it by model number but the generation are easy to define.
A first generation nano is either black or white.  It is made out of the same material as a standard Ipod at the time.  Comes in 1 gig and 2 gig only
A second generation nano is multi colored and made from a metal case.  Similar in design to a mini.  The edges are round as well. comes in 2 gig and 4 gig.
A third generation nano is a different size than 1 and 2.  it has a bigger screen on it.  Can play videos as well.  Comes in 2 gig, 4 gig, and 8 gig as well.

Ipod lights up then goes out, then lights up again and repeats this cycle, no logo seen.

Try resetting it by holding down the menu button and the center button at the same time until the apple logo pops up. It could also be a problem that I had before where you update the firmware and then it starts acting wierd. What you need to do is try and load it into a soundock like bose or logitech and it helps to reset the ipod. Hope this helps you out.

Ipod nano 1st gen sync/charge problem

Try these options i got them from apple when my ipod dident work trying a new port and reinstalling itunes worked for me 1)Reset your iPod. 2)Retry with a different USB or FireWire port. 3)Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates installed. 4)Remove iTunes software and then reinstall iTunes software from latest versions on the web. last resort 5)Restore your iPod. See ?Updating and Restoring iPod Software? in the user's guide.
