The pads are on the very bottom under the printer engine, after removing all the upper covers there are 6 screws holding the print engine in place, and the cable from the power supply must be removed. After changing though, you must enter diagnostic mode to reset the counter for the ink absorbers.

Canon i9900 - keep getting message - ink absorber almost full. Where is it - how do I get at it and what do I have to do. Also one end of sponge strip has come loose - how to I get at it to put it back...

The ink absorbers are white pads. they reside at the bottom of the printer. The entire chassis needs to be removed and new pads fitted. Then the software needs to be reset to remove the message and return its counters to zero. The black sponge is also replaced at the same time. To get to the right end (i presume thats whats your referring to) just start the printer so you hear the carriage move and plull out the mains plug. Now the carriage is unlocked and you can move it easily. Just push the sponge back down, it should stay in place. The job is best left to a canon specialist as the chassis removal is a bit of a job. Good luck.

Can you tell me how to empty the waste ink tank on a Canon i990 inkjet printer

There is no ink tank, it's a set of fitted absorbent pads underneath the entire print engine. You need a shop to replace them since you need the service mode to reset the counter and clear the error.

Ink absorber full

The absorber part # is qy5-0241-000, about $10.00. It is under the printer frame assembly and if you change these pads you still have to use diagnostic mode to reset the counter for the absorber. A messy job that is best done in the shop. Our shop charges $69.00 for labor.

I keep getting mssg : check printer error 5B00. i found the answer to this, its about ink or something. after i clean the pad, and i connect the printer again, but i still get the same problems..... some...

Hi guys, Error code 5B00 indicates absorber full error. To fix this problem you need to reset waste absorber counter and replace waste ink absorber. Unfortunately you don't write the printer model so I cannot write reset procedure here.

Indicates waste ink absorber is almost full on cannon i9900 print

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink full" error.

The waste ink absorption pads cannot be emptied, only replaced.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you. Once they are replaced, it'll be functional again.

Problem - e 27 found

this is an error code for Canon e.g.

E27 Waste ink absorber full or platen waste ink absorber full
How to clean first:
Two absorber pads are located on the right side of the printer, under the ink cartridges. With the printer on, lift the top to expose the cartridges. They will automatically move out of the way. You can move them to the left side by hand if the printer is not on. They each sit in a rubber socket. The pads can be removed and cleaned.
Take the pads out of the socket with tweezers. Clean them with warm water. It is best to use a spray bottle (on stream) and blast it through the pad until it is white. Sometimes just putting it under a running tap will be sufficient. If there is ink in the socket after taking the pad out, it can be cleaned up with a paper towel. Put the pads back into the socket and you have successfully cleaned the ink absorbers. Now you may have to reset the error message E27, so you can print again.

How to clear E27 code : Waste ink absorber full

1.With the printer powered off but connected to a power source,
press the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
2.When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times
while pressing and holding the Power button.
3.When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order),
the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4.When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the
