SOURCE: Driver

hi dear

Windows 98 users will have to load the included drivers manually. No Linux drivers are available. The drive came formatted for FAT32, which we changed to NTFS, yielding 76.6GB of usable space (on the 80GB version), and it was able to read and write data at 72Mbps, or about 35 percent slower than the EZ Mini's throughput

SOURCE: Unable to access my 4 GB Transcend pen drive with Windows Vista

Here are the 3 possible solutions to this problem,

SOLUTION 1 :-
Make sure the you have the Service Pack 1 installed for you vista computer.
You can find it out by opening the run command and type "winver" (without quotes) there. If it's not showing SP1 please update Windows Vista to Service Pack 1 which includes the update to fix this problem as this was the problem when vista was launched but fixed with SP1.

If updating vista does not resolve the issue try the solution provided below:

SOLUTION 2 :-

Manually locate the driver within the Vista operating system.

Microsoft Windows Vista may not find any driver for the device that is plugged in the USB port because the usbstor.inf (for MSC device) or wpdmtp.inf (for MTP enabled devices) is not present inside the C:\Windows\INF folder.

To resolve this issue, you must copy the driver files to the C:\Windows\INF folder.

Browse to the following folder:

1. C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository.
2. Look for the folder that starts with usbstor.inf_.
3. Copy all the files inside this folder to C:\Windows\INF.
4. Disconnect and reconnect the device.

If the problem still persists, try this Solution:

SOLUTION 3 :-
Clear hidden devices and make changes to the Registry

First backup your registry by  following these steps,
1. Click Start
2. Type regedit on the start search field, then press Enter.
3. Click File then select Export.
4. Under Export Range select All.
5. Type in the desired name to be saved.

STEP 2 - Remove Hidden Devices
1. Click Start..
2. Type cmd on the start search field , then press Enter.
2. Type set DEVMGR_SHOW_DETAILS=1 and press Enter.
3. Type set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1 and press Enter.
4. Type start devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
5. Device Manager window will appear
5. Click View, then select Show hidden devices.
6. Click + to expand Imaging devices, Unknown devices, and USB devices.
7. Verify if there are any devices and unknown devices (including grayed out devices). Uninstall.

STEP 3 - Remove all oem*.inf files
1. Click Start.
2. Type cmd on the start search field and press Enter.
3. In the command line, type in the following commands and press Enter after each command:
  cd \windows\inf
  ren infcache.1 *.old
  ren oem*.inf *.old
  del C:\windows\setupapi.log
  exit

STEP 4 - Remove entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB

Remember,if you have a USB keyboard or mouse, do not remove the VID entry for these devices, otherwise, Windows may not restart correctly.

1. Click Start
2. Type regedit on the start search field, then press Enter.
3. Click on the "+" symbol beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
4. Navigate to \System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB.
5. Highlight and delete all the VID_xxxx entries.

Please note that if you have a USB keyboard or mouse, do not remove the VID entry for these devices, otherwise, Windows may not restart correctly.

After this turn off your PC completely then with the PC turned off, plug the USB flash drive to a USB port and then turn on the PC.
Now, a New Hardware Detected balloon will appear and the USB drivers will load automatically.

Please let me know if the problem persists.

Next, open device manager (Click Start Menu and type in "Device Manager", right click and run as administrator). Then find your device in the list, and uninstall it. Immediately, unplug the wireless USB from the computer. Now, restart your computer with the USB unplugged. Insert your driver disk and install the driver, when prompted plug the wireless USB back into the computer. Hope this helps.

Hello, I am trying to install my d-link 125 usb adapter. I had to download the windows 7 driver from the d-link website, and now I am trying to install it to my computer. When I try to run the driver...

Use the following steps to let Windows do the installation for you.

Step 1: Use an Ethernet cable and plug your computer directly to your Internet gateway. Make sure Internet is accessible.

Step 2: Place your new adapter in the proper slot or port.

Step 3: With your computer running, a bubble message will appear stating that this device was not installed successfully. Left click on the message.
But if the message no longer appears, skip to Device Manager Installation.
Step 4: On driver installation failure, you can change the setting to use Windows Update by clicking Change setting...
Step 5: Chose to allow Windows to update your driver when it is not found on you computer.
Step 6: Once the driver installs successfully, close the window.

Step 7: Click/Right Click on the Network Icon located on the system tray to View the Available Wireless Networks. Find your personal Network and double click to connect. It should request for a wireless key, which by now should have been set up.

Device Driver Sofwtare will not install for HP

Hi, I have the exact same printer, with the same problem (Windows 7 Home Premium). Yes, the HP Windows 7 Software/Driver doesn't work for this printer.

But I was able to find a successful workaround. Follow these steps in Windows 7:

1) Click on the Windows Start Button and click on "Devices and Printers"

A window should pop up showing your devices and installed printers (if any).

2) At the top of this window, click on "Add a Printer"

A "Add Printer" dialog box should pop up with two options on what type of printer you want to install.

3) Choose the "Add a Local Printer" option. Ignore the small print under the option.

A window will now come up prompting you to Choose a Printer Port.

4) Choose "Use an Existing Port"

5) In the drop down box next to "Use an Existing Port", choose one of the USB ports. That entry should say something like:
"USB001 (Virtual Printer Port for USB)"

6) Click the "Next" Button

Now an "Install the Printer Driver" window should appear.

7) In the Manufacturer's Box, find and click on "Hewlett-Packard"

8) In the Printer's Box, find and click on "HP Deskjet 4200 Series"

9) Click Next

10) Follow the instructions on the screen to install. If Windows gives you the option to replace the current driver, then go with it.

11) Done! The printer should work. But everytime you plug it in, you may receive a notice from windows that the driver could not be installed. There are ways in Windows to hide that specific notice. But in any case, the printer should still print when you want it to.
