Question about RCA F27242GY 27" TV

2 Answers

No Picture I was watching my TV (I have a cable box hooked up to it) when the picture went out and it made a noise like when I normally turn the TV off. The sound, however, was still going. For about 3 days to a week the picture would go in and out, with no change to the sound. Is there anyway my husband or I can fix this or is my TV dump material? If it can be corrected, is it a costly repair or not? My email is if you could please let me know. Signed, TV Impaired in Virginia.

Re: No Picture

The picture on mine was fading out. Turned out the heater connection on plug A13 had a cold solder joint.

Mbrave , Your set has cold solder joints this means you have poor connections on your chassis / resolder around flyback and all poor connections this should fix it,if not then look for leaky capacitor 100uf 160volts.rember solder first! laubaker YOUR TV if at my shop repair cost 85.00 you have 1 or 2 things wrong if only shorted hori out 85.00. you have lost of high voltaged.

I was watching my tv (sanyo) with cable hooked to it. The cable all of a sudden went out. I tried hooking up the dvd player and the tv is no longer recognizing the cable box or dvd player. I don't know...

sound like a tuner problem. there is a resistor that goes to the tuner that could of went bad 39,000 ohms i think which should have a orange white orang strips around it and a gold. anyway there is a problem with tuner. Sanyo was good about haveing a problem with tuners in there smaller sets. If you do not know anything about how to repair you probly shoud take to a shop but the total cost might be high and not worth it in the long run. think before you jump still water runs deep.

DELL 42 inch Plasma TV

I have a 42" LG LCD TV and just experienced this today. Watching cable, then the screen went to black, but audio continued. I pressed the guide button on my remote and pic came on with my guide menu. But then went to black again 10sec later and has remained that way for nearly an hour. Tried switching off both cable box and TV, disconnecting and reconnecting cables, but no luck. Finally unplugged mains, waited a minute, then turned back on. Everything seems normal now after the reboot. Phew.

Picture turns into looking like a reverse negative

Often you will get a bluish or reddish looking picture if your wires from your cable box/satellite or DVD player are inexpensive RCA type video cables. Try using a nice set of component cables or HDMI cable from your sources to your TV. If this is your setup, try this first...its the most inexpensive first option.

Female coax connector in tv bad?

If your cable converter box has audio/video connections on the back of it,you don't need to worry about using that RF coax connector. Just hook it up the same way your DVD is hooked to the TV input jack. Get a 3-wire cable (yellow-red-white)hook it to the same colors on the back of the cable box and hook the other end to an unused input on the back of the TV. Then select that input with your remote and watch TV.
