SOURCE: Lint Filter in Whirlpool Agitator washing Machine

Hi Viral, The lint filter is in the door. It should just lift out. Or cut & paste this link for instruction manual for your machines. http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%203406876.pdf Regards

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

SOURCE: Washing collects a lot of "fatty" soap suds/lint.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Providing your particular model has a filter I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter- so many problems are caused by blocked filters.

Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL TOP LOADER MODEL 3LSR6253E01 MY WASHING COMES OUT COVERED IN LINT. I CANT FIND A FILTER ON THE MACHINE IS THERE ONE? PLEASE HELP THANKS KATE

All washing machine have lint filters to protect the pump, but they generally have quite large holes and although called 'lint' filters, they are to stop baby socks and coins getting into the pump. They are always at the bottom of the machine behind the front kick panel on a front loader or under the agitator on a top loader.

If your washing comes out covered in lint, you need to find the item that is shedding it. May also be paper tissues left in pockets. We only have one item that sheds lint and that is a bathmat. We wash it separately.

Washing machine lint trap

There is no trap per say. The lint catcher is self cleaning when the water is pumped out. It sounds like you are overloading it and the clothes are hitting the agitator. Operation should be agitation by water movement not beat by the plastic fins, run a wash cycle hot water no clothes to flush things out and try smaller loads.

Why does my washing machine leave lint on my clothes? does this type of washer have a lint catcher?

Most washers don't have lint traps, the dryers are expected to. In your type of top loader some simple traps would be located in the top cap of the agitator. They should be cleaned each load, but they only stop the bigger pieces.

Hi there, i have recently purchased a maytag atlantis washing machine 2nd hand model MAV7750BGW,great machine only its leaving lint on cloths and i dont have a manual for it,can you please...

Hi,

To my knowledge, on most (but not all) washing machines, lint/fluff are collected on the wash cycle and flushed down with the water during drain cycle.

Since your machine is a Maytag, it is different. On most Maytag washing machines, lint/fluff is collected in the center tube of the agitator. It wold be necessary to lift out said tube and thereafter clean it on a regular basis. Some other models have a lint filter near the top of the tub, which you need to slide out, clean off, and reinsert. If for some reason there is no lint/fluff filter in your machine, this page shows how one can be made.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
