Quickverse 7.0 loses Greek & Hebrew fonts

I installed Quickverse 7.0 on my new Vista laptop. The installation was successful, but every time the computer is shut down and restarted, all Greek and Hebrew characters, in all books, are replaced with gibberish. I have to uninstall and reinstall to correct the problem, every time the computer is turned off.

I purchased Hebrew Tutor and cannot install it on my Windows7, 64-bit computer. Please help.

Unfortunately, the Hebrew Tutor from QuickVerse was written for older Windows OS versions. It supports: Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP Home, XP Pro, or NT 4.0. The changes in the Windows OS over time has made the installer totally different and the program isn't signed for a 64-bit OS. http://www.quickverse.com/shopfiles/product_details.asp?ID=41011 has the support details.

There are two possible ways to work around the issue. The first is to try to install the program (and then run it) in the compatibility mode. This may work but often doesn't. Right click on the installer (from the CD's directory) and choose Properties. Then go to the Compatibility tab and chose Run this program as compatible with XP. Save and close the properties box. Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator. If it installs, repeat the compatibility process on the program itself.

The solution most likely to work is to use a computer with the compatible OS versions. This could be a physical second computer, a dual-boot machine or a virtual computer. If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, you can run the virtual computer with XP for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode (in order) from Microsoft. For other setups, you will need a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Virtualization packages include Virtual PC, Parallels and VMWare. Then install the Hebrew tutor as you normally would to an XP computer. (Note: virtual computers do not share hardware with the real computer. You can only install a printer to one machine at a time. You can share files by saving them to external media (optical RW disc or flash drive for example).)

I hope this helps.

My Clarion application sends codes directly to the (TM-H6000II) printer. I need to print in Hebrew but the printer seems to insist on Greek (I think!). I added the following code to the printer start: ...

This most likely requires that you get the Hebrew Font set from the Manufacturer and install it in the Printer Firm ware or update the Hebrew Font Set in your computer software. Either should resolve your problem. The printing that you currently see is, without actually seeing it, the result of the printer trying to print character codes that it does not recognize. I would try updating the Firmware in your printer first then if that failed update the Hebrew Font codes and character set and install that. Epson should have the download on their website. The information you need for the software Font download will depend on what software you are using.

Want to install Quick verse 7 on Vista

the Quick verse 7 was made only for 95 98 2000 and XP but you can try this method on how to install the QV 7 on winXP sp3

"Install QuickVerse Essentials version 7 on WinXP w/sp3

Place the QuickVerse version 7 Essentials CD into optical drive & close tray. This begins the auto run / install process. (Please do not remove CD until right at the end!)

Installation menus appear. Accept the defaults and choose “Typical Installation” (85Mb)

Message box appears at the end of the installation: “QuickVerse installation has encountered a problem and needs to close” Choose “Don’t Send” The installation program exits.

Navigate to: Start Button / All Programs / Parsons / QuickVerse 7 / (from drop down list) find “QuickVerse 7.0” and right click on it. Select “Send To Desktop”

Click on the new QuickVerse 7.0 desktop icon to run the program.

Dialog Box appears, “The librarian datafile library.mdb not found etc…” Select “New” / "Open Book" dialog box appears click on “Close”

Now with QuickVerse 7.0 running go to File / Add Books. “Registration Guide – Introduction” box appears. Choose “Next” The path to the new collection to register should identify the optical drive (with the QuickVerse CD already inserted) Choose “Next”, “Next” and “Finish” ("Registering STEP Books" msg box appears)

Customize Option: select “No” (default) then “OK”

Go to File / Library management. “Library Management – Maintenance” box appears
The Left Hand (LH) pane shows:
Default Drive
QuickVerse Essentials

Highlight QV Essentials in the LH pane. The RH pane shows all the books present on the CD. I chose to install only the NRSV w/Apocrypha book. Drag and drop this book to the LH pane i.e. Default Drive.

“Transferring Book Files” msg box appears whilst the book is being copied from the CD to the hd.

Close the dialog, exit the program, remove the CD and you’re away…"

hope this helps./

I tried the following and it works. I had several bad installs and this works. My guess is that the first steps are not necessary, but they won't hurt.

1. Insert the first CD and explore to find the autorun file. Right click and choose properties, and run it in compatability mode with Windows 98.

2. Right click again on the autorun file and choose to run it as administrator.

3. Follow all the regular steps for installation.

4. On the new shortcut, right click and choose properties, run in compatability mode with Windows 98.

5. Finally, right click on the shortcut icon and choose to run the file as administrator.

Good luck. It is a wonderful software I have had for ten years and used on a half dozen computers.

In order to view Hebrew website, you need a jailbroken iPhone with Cydia installed in it.

Please follow the steps .

1. Add the source to cydia, and pick one of the following options :
  • To install a fully localized Hebrew interface – search for the package iVrit and install it
  • To install Hebrew fonts & keyboard only – search for the package OpenHebrew and install it
  • The source is :
