You can't use a digital input in zone 2. Only analog inputs can be used.

How to hook it up to new emerson tv without s-viedo connection

Hi,here is my solution...
If you want to listen your TV on your Stereo system thru your receiver,
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your TV
** to "AUX input " or "TV" OR "Any input" of your receiver ( except Phone ) or "Optic Cable input"
** than just switch to respective mode on RECEIVER corresponding your RCA or Optic connection...
There you go..Your TV sound is on the Receiver..
----------------------------
If you want to display your DVD on the TV,than do everything visa versa..as;
**connect "Video Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your Receiver
** to "Video input " or "Optic Cable input"
of your TV and make a selection corresponding input of TV
Hope this helps!
Take care and please

Switching digital inputs with a remote?

The default assignments for the digital INPUTs to Source names are:

OPT1= Video2
OPT2= CD.

If you have never changed them you should be able to select the PS3 by choosing Video2 and the 360 by choosing CD.

Or you could go into the setup routine on Page 33 of the manual and assign each digital input to a different 'function' that works better for you.

By the way, if you have the choice of coaxial vs optical cables on a given device the cheaper, longer and least sensitive-to-dirt-and-damage choice is coaxial - plain RCA cables. You can even extend them with Male-Female extender cables or split them with Y-cables for sharing one port with two devices or one device feeding two other devices (example: Cable Box-to-TV-and-Receiver). Just don't have two sources feeding one input turned on at the same time or they'll interfere with each other. Try that with optical cables.

Yes, you can switch between Coax and Optical inputs, but not using the remote. Press the button "Input" on your HT-R430

Optical inputs

Hi boltbob

Strange one... . The unit has'nt just lost its presets for optical input selection by chance. Most receivers have a volatile memory for user presets that can reset input settings to default when the unit has been unplugged for a period of time. This may mean that your amp is not looking at the optical inputs for that source. If it has correctly selected the optical inputs, then something common to all optical inputs has failed, maybe a a buffer stage between optics, D/A or Source switching stages.

Try disconnecting the unit from the wall socket for 10 mins to do a hard reset and see if that has any resolve to the issue.

Other than that, its out with the multi meter anbd do some DC checks about the optical , buffer and d/a stages. Try the reset and let me know how you go.

DVD optical/TOSLINK input no longer working

If it's only the DVD input, and you had tested it systematically, like you'd stated, then the input connector could be loose or defective.

I have two optical inputs the one one the left works wellwith my dvd player. I tried plugging my satalite into the other optical input but it won't let me change the tv button to digital

Discovered, with help, that the manual actually did cover this. Around pages 20-21 described the way that you can set which inputs each of the OPT1/OPT2/COAX inputs get assigned to. Basically scroll through the different setup options on the remote till you find the settings for the OPT2 - in my case it was set to "Off" - which explains things. Just switched to TV and voila, worked great.

Kenwood vrs-6100 receivers optical digital

You want to receive the optical signal from the TV's built in decoder / receiver to play through your Kenwood? Maybe you need to select the digital input. The manual says:

Use the INPUT SELECTOR key (or Input Selector keys)
to select DVD, VIDEO or FRONT AUX.

2 Press the INPUT MODE key.
Each press switches the setting as follows:

1 "F-AUTO": Auto detect
("AUTO DETECT" indicator lights up)

2 "D-MANUAL": Fixed to digital input
("DIGITAL" indicator lights up)

3 "ANALOG": Fixed to analog input *
("AUTO DETECT", "DIGITAL" indicator goes off)

Also check your TV to make sure it is outputting to the optical jack.
