Question about Televison & Video

3 Answers

I upgraded my JVC GY HD100U's authorized firmware (web site) according to the instructions, and waited for the specified reboot. It never happened. I turned on the power after 10 minutes and the camera's HDV/DV, back tally light, and VTR button are all blinking with no LCD picture. I need help to fix this problem as I have a major video shoot in 8 days. Help!!!

    Hi Jan,
Thank you for the post...but all the camera is doing is blinking the rear tally light and the VTR light. No other visible signs. The firmware seems to be the right version for the camera, but no dice. What else can you suggest?

    Thanks,

    ACS

Problem with JVC GY HD 100U PRO HD Camcorder! Upon powering up the camera, the rear tally light and VTR light blink...with no picture to the LCD monitor. Firmware upgrade was in effect and did not reboot after upgrade. Please Help, I have a major shoot in 8 days. JVC Camcorder experts please find me a solution. Thanks.

How do I dump the previous firmware? The camera is pretty much really non responsive. There is power, but it hangs with only the tally light and VTR light blinking. Are you familiar with the process involved in reverting to the previous version in the JVC Cameras?

I believe that this solution is the most helpful for my specific situation. Although it does not fix the problem, I do feel it gets to the heart of the matter. By taking this unit to an authorized service it will ensure the camera get fixed properly.
    Thank you!

I hate to tell any one this specially in the case you have 8 days. You did a update for a firmware and it turned bad now these two light are blinking, if this is not responsive to the computer then it will need repaire there is a small jumper inside the camera that can be moved to allow this to be hard programmed this will need to be done by a JVC expert.

JVC has merged with panisonic or vese versa but there is some meeting of minds there :) This is what I would do if I where in your shoes pick the best expert that came close to a rsolve and accept there advice and call JVC for a autherized service center and take it there you will be happy you did!

The repair will be less costly with them if you opened the cam up yourself and it will take less time so you will be in your pocket for your shoot:)

please don't shoot the messanger but I think my advice to you will be more worth your wild then to do it yourself.

The upgrade might not have been completed...repeat upgrade but double check procedures...if problem persists then the firmware version is not for your cam..restore previous firmware from the site..

Will not stay connected

Try to upgrade the firmware of the router. Firmware is the software of the router.
Download the latest firmware of the router. Go to the manufacturer's web site and download the firmware of the router.
Open the set up page of the router and upgrade the firmware of the router. Once you upgrade the firmware of the router, reset the router.
On the router you will find a small reset button, hold it down for 30 seconds. release it. wait for 1 minute. Now unplug the power to the router and plug it back in.
Now you will need to reconfigure the router according to the Internet service provider.

I have a jvc GY-HM100U High Definition Camcorder and when I use a pny 4GB sdhc card and put the Video on my Mac I can't play the video because I either get an error message or it says it can't read the...

The gy-hm100 can record to sdhc media up to 32gb in each slot (total 64gb). For best performance you must use class 10 sd cards. Your camera may need updated firmware that enables class 10 support so check the JVC Pro website and follow the firmware instructions if you haven't done so already. Also, make sure your card is formatted and unlocked with plenty free space. 4 gb is not much at all and a card that size may not be of sufficient speed to operate correctly in the gy-hm100.

Every 5 to 10min the internet slows right down then after a couple of min speeds back up. how do i keep this from happening?

First thing you should check is your router's firmware.

Visit Linksys's support site for the latest versions.

Update the firmware and you should be good to go.

MY JVC GY-HD100 Wont capture properly in Final Cut Pro. Always shows time code breaks where there are none. Only capture a minute or two at a time. What can I Do?

Are you shooting 24p? Make sure you're using the correct capture presets. DV NTSC 48k 24Pa (presuming you're shooting 24p advanced)
if this doesn't help, close final cut and delete your com.apple.finalcutpro.plist file from library>preferences. This should solve additional cadence problems.
