Hi there,

Cassette tape is pulled through the player by a mechanism that engages the
little internally-toothed wheels that have the tape wrapped around them.
This mechanism can get broken, worn out, and/or dirty. When its not working
right, the machine tends to eat up tapes and trash them.
an it cut's the tv coz. of no signals.

VCR ?? With the possible age of the device, there could be a lot of issues with grease that is old, belts that are stretched etc. A VCR senses tape tension in order to prevent eating the tape. Clean the unit and check all the belts.

You need to purchase a VHS head cleaner or clean the heads and pinch rollers by hand. remove cover and lid to drive system. you will see all the tape guides, rollers and heads. use Q-tips and denatured alcohol and clean every thing the tape touches. swap q-tips as they get dirty.

The tape mechanism belts have stretched and the unit is not running properly. When this happens, microprocessor is programmed to eject tape and shut down unit.

VCR will not eject tape. Is there a mechanical override?

try taking the housing off the machine and inspect to see if the tape has been wraped up in the drive or tension pully. chances are that the tape has jamed up. you will have to cut tape out.
not the case of the tape but the ribbon itself.

Vcr cuts my tv off after i put the tape in

The VCR is not turning the TV power off. The tape is not playing. I'd guess maybe it needs a cleaning or a replacment.

Vcr eating tapes

When a VCR eats a tape, it can be cause by a couple things.

1. There is a rubber wheel called a "pincher wheel" that compresses the tape against the "capstan". The capstan is a shiny metal spindle connected to a motor. The pincher wheel can become worn and/or dirty (slick) from the oxide coating off of the tape. You can try cleaning the pincher wheel and capstan with alcohol or try using a re-grip solution on the pincher wheel. Last thing to do is replace the pincher wheel. Look to see that the pincher wheel is doing its job by pulling the tape through.

2. There is a small tire wheel called an idler tire. This tire pivots between the sending and pickup reels of the player. Its also used during fast forward & rewind as well as play. If the tire is worn, the tape won't be wound up as fast on the take-up reel as the sending reel during play. This means more tape is coming out of the cassette than can be wound up on the takeup reel. You can try using a re-grip solution on the idler tire or replace it.

Let me know if you need more information as to where to purchase these parts.

Good luck!

VCR eats the tape

you have a bad take-up reel clutch or a belt on the bottom of the player mechanism that is causing this trouble.
