Asus Eee PC 1001p display black

Unplugged all the external device. Like external harddrive,Pendrive,Camera anything. And restart the computer in safe mode with networking. If it is working on safe mode you need to uninstall and reinstall the display drivers in order to fix the issue.

Reboot Pc and after it passes the motherboard devices (thats just before you WindowsXP start to load) start pressing F8.Then you will be prompted to a series of boot options.
Select Safe mode.
Once done booting and the message that you are working in safe mode appears,Right click anywhere on desktop ( not over shortcuts) and select properties.Select Advanced. There you should see a varies of selections depending on your video card.

Try running your laptop in safe mode. In order to do this, right when you start your laptop, press F8. It would then take you to a screen that has an option that says "Safe Mode". Run the laptop in safe mode, and then go to system tools and try running the system restore tool.

Make sure the laptop is not connected to the internet so turn off the wireless adapter or don't connect any network cable to it.

Wont boot

Failed to initiate error means that either the hard drive or hard drive controller have failed. Your best bet is replace the hard drive. If the data is valuable there are some companies which can recover for a price.

A virus has taken over my computer and wont allow me to do anything so i need to do a complete reboot

check if your computer can still boot to safe mode(by pressing f8 during startup and select safe mode from advanced boot options). if it can boot to safe mode, run system restore. if it doesnt boot, you will need to run a full factory image restore or a manual operating system reinstallation. hope it'll help.
